    Two Worlds 2

I’m curious if anyone picked this up, and if so is it any good? I know the first one was buggy as hell but supposedly they fixed most of the problems from the first one.

I wish somebody made a game like this based on Middle-earth or the forgotten realms.

I've been playing it for the past month or so and I have to say it's fucking brilliant (PC version of course). Visuals are amazing and I'm really digging the magic system how it lets you create your own spells. I'm not too far in it but from what I've played so far it is definitely something I plan on finishing. One thing that annoys me is the voice acting for the guy you control is terrible.

Here's a few screens I took if anyone is interested

    Spoilered for huge

You can kinda of see the dynamic lighting in the last screen, it's pretty amazing when you're wandering dark caves with nothing but your torch.

Skip Venetica, buy this. Or rent it on the consoles.

Surprisingly it's not on steam yet but it's on Direct 2 Drive.

I'm not sure if it uses PhysX, but it has a hardware physics setting in the menu. Mines currently on and everything moves, like the grass as you run through it, if you do some special move inside a house that causes a shock wave, all the pots and stuff will come flying off the shelves. If you get the PC version though, make sure you use a controller. Controls very nicely with Xbox 360 controller. I've heard nightmares about controlling it with kb/m, so I didn't bother trying it.

Damn I'm really digging the art style in this game, and the character animations too. Pretty impressive for a western game. Is there a demo available?

Just got this today and I've already seen a few bugs. It's fun so far but my screen is cut off and I can barely read weapon/armor stats does anyone know how to fix?

    Edit: Playing on 360.

I forget what it’s actually called but under the graphics option select the bottom option and switch it to the opposite of what it’s set to. That will fix that problem.

what Rescue said under graphics options there is a "[Safe Screen] off" need to turn it to on this should fix it a friend and I had the same issue.

I was really hesitant about wasting 60 bucks on this game because of the first two worlds. They really did a good job with this sequel, TW2 doesn't even seem like the same game. Of course it still has its fare share of bugs, but I was doing multiplayer quests with 2 friends last night and even though we are all in different time zones we could have been on LAN and seen no difference. I guess me buying this game expecting the worse and it ending up exceeding those limited expectations may have me blind to how sub par this game really is. If that is what it takes for me to enjoy games as much as I have TW2 I may need to do that more often.

Thanks a lot for that fix, that was actually the only thing I didn't screw around with in graphics options lol. Also, so far i have fallen through the world twice, had to restart a quest 3 times because i pushed an enemy through the floor and I've gotten myself horribly stuck exploring the game world 3 times yet I am still enjoying the game a lot. I havent even left the first continent yet due to the plethora of side quests. All in all the game seems worth the bugs.

Haven't encountered any bugs whatsoever yet on PC other than at one point when mouth animations and speech became un-synced for a few minutes.

Lol in the very first cut scene that evil guys cape was pointing straight into the air. Having the first cut scene glitch was a hilarious way to start the game in my opinion.

This game is freaking beautiful. Few more screens:

Almost at 20 hours play time and I'm still on the first island...lol (not counting the tiny orc island you start on.) Still on Chapter 1, doing a bunch of side quests. Hoping to get on to the second island soon...

EDIT: Sorry, I can't of went overboard with screens. I just can't stop taking them in this game.

how would you compare this to oblivion/morrowind (I mean how is it similar and how is it different)?

Having played through Morrowind, then Risen, and now Witcher I am full steam ahead on my WRPG binge so I'll definitely hit this up next. I have decided that the joy of finding a barrel or a crate and rummaging through it is quite possibly my favorite gaming activity ever.

How are the controls, and how is the combat? I guess I've had gripes with controls/combat in other games in the genre so I'm really hoping they're at least passable. One thing I remember from the original Two Worlds (which I played for an hour) that I liked was that you could stack multiple copies of the same weapon to save space and improve them, did they keep this in Two Worlds 2?

Well, it's a euro RPG with a smaller budget, and it shows in the voice acting but honestly it feels more polished and has more depth than most WRPGs. If I had to describe it, the combat feels sort of like Demon's Souls mixed with I guess Oblivion. Thing is I didn't really enjoy Oblivion (although I played on PS3, so possible I'd enjoy PC version more) but I'm really loving this. It's an open world RPG with dungeon crawling/item looting elements, a pretty deep alchemy potion brewing system, crafting system, a magical creation system (you combine elements with modifiers and it changes the spell).

For example, if I combine Air element with Enchantment, it might give me 20 seconds of resistance against an element, if I add a damage modifier, it might change it to a storm of debris, if I then add a time and a protection modifier, it changes the spell to an AoE tornado that surrounds me.

Controls well with a 360 controller, only gripe is that it uses d-pad on it and the 360 d-pad is complete shit so sometimes it presses 2 directions and does something you don't want to. Up, left and right on the d-pad change you between 3 equipment sets (I have warrior, mage and archer set) and down on the d-pad engages/disengages your weapon. LT is block, RT is attack, buttons and bumpers do special attacks and you can set them to items etc. Pretty standard controls really. Combat is pretty varied and right now I'm more a jack-of-all-trades rather than focusing on one job. Melee is obviously strongest if you're up close, archer is pretty awesome for keeping enemies at bay and slowing them down, various status effects etc, and does decent damage. And mage, well, mage is just a lot of fucking fun lol.

Haven't had any trouble with inventory system and haven't had any space issues. The only things that take up inventory space are weapons and armor, and they don't stack. Potions, accessories, magic stones, materials etc don't take up space. You can break down weapons to raw materials and you have enough space and come across enough inventory space enhancement magic stones that it really isn't a problem. Plus the endurance stat raises your inventory space too. I'm currently sittings at about 89/265 inventory and I'm level 26, it builds up when your looting a big dungeon, but like I said, you can break down weapons you don't need or want to their raw materials which don't make up space. Then you can use the materials to improve your current weapons.

Not sure what the console version is like though, so don't blame me if it's buggy as shit lol. Also, I haven't completed it yet but from others impressions apparently the story is pretty generic and bland. If there's a demo or something somewhere, I'd say try it out and see if you like the game play because that's what is going to keep you playing this.
