Now that my fiance and I have gotten most of the heavy lifting on wedding planning done (venue, caterer, bar, rehearsal dinner, honeymoon, etc. etc.), she has turned her attention to the smaller stuff...namely our wedding registry.
Not to ignore the fact that this is a great opportunity to call on the generosity of our family and friends in helping two lowly newlyweds set up their home, I got to thinking about some items that I have always wanted to purchase but never had the real opportunity to fully utilize them.
Spoiler: show
With that in mind, we are going to purchase a home in slightly under a year from now and could now make full use of some items we both had in mind; but in not actively shopping for any of them before don't really know which brand or format may be better than another and I got to wondering if BG could help me out.
Soundbars: Is bigger really better? Is a 50 inch soundbar really 10 inches (and X dollars) better than a 40 inch soundbar? I'm inclined to go with Vizio or Samsung as a rule of thumb. Bells? Whistles? What side stuff to look for?
Home Wide WiFi: My friend recently installed this and swears by it; being able to control the lights in one room from another and ensuring that WiFi is accessible throughout their home even in the basement. We have an echo and placed a few echo dots on the registry as is, but is that the best or most efficient solution vs an integrated system?
Projectors: My brother in law has a media room set up with blacked out paint on the walls and a projector for movies and games. I've always thought this could be an awesome solution for space in a game-themed man cave where I would want to maximize space to display game collections and memorabilia. How big is too big? Would just shelling out for a 50+ inch HD TV work better for games/sports viewings?
Wildcard: Anything else that's good to ask for that eventual first time homebuyers may not immediately recognize as needing? We've already got some of the usual bedding/towels/home depot gift cards/etc up there.
