So I just read an article about how the most depressing sequel that was never made; the direct sequel to Forrest Gump. The guy that wrote the screenplay for the original film and the author of the novel worked on a screenplay that featured Forrest’s life in the 80s and 90s and would be a rollercoaster of emotions that included hits such as:
Young Forrest does indeed have AIDS, dealt with bus desegregation issues in the south where nobody wants to ride the bus with the AIDS kid and he has to find a new home
Forrest becomes a savant world renowned ballroom dancer, eventually he ends up at a charity function where he dances with Princess Diana
Forrest somehow ends up in the back of OJ Simpson’s white bronco during the high speed freeway chase, ends up talking OJ into turning himself in
Forrest finds his true calling in life by becoming a Bingo announcer on a Native American reservation, where me meets a new woman who becomes his best friend. He would wait for her at the bus stop outside her workplace everyday so they could meet for lunch (where he narrates the film), and the end of the film reveals he has been waiting outside the federal building that was destroyed in the Oklahoma City bombing.
The dudes that wrote the screenplay then revealed they turned it in to Paramount on September 10, 2001. Everyone agreed that the movie could not be made in the aftermath of 9/11.
So anyways you guys enjoy the rest of your day now.
