so from either just getting old, or perhaps a side effect of the medicine i'm on, my vision is really blurry at reading distance and now requires glasses.

It's probably phone usage. As your get older, you eyes get weaker and slower.

replace phone with laptop but yeah. just seems to caught up with me all of a sudden rather than gradually.
