demo feels almost more like wo long than nioh, kinda mixed on it at the moment

Demo is out on steam, covers like 5 hours at the start of the game and saves carry over.

It's more Nioh, only now with an open world and you have to manage two full equipment sets.

Game is absurdly CPU heavy, so fair warning (also probably not a good sign for how it's going to perform on console). Also seems like it has some kind of frame pacing issue if you're running at anything other than a fixed 60 or 120.

felt a little better than the previous demo, feels alot easier now that you have so many more tools. made a huge mistake going with english voices though my god its awful

demo is dope but full game + season pass running for $110 is bonks, will wait a year for half price

I played the demo, and much like the others in the series this continues to be the one Souls game I just don't "get" for some reason. Mortal Shell, Lies of P, you name it. All varying levels of enjoyable. This demo was ass.

Fwiw, the performance of the game on PC gets substantially worse as you get further in. Past the second open world segment and the game can't maintain 60 fps anymore, and because this engine has no concept of how to operate outside of 30 60 120fps it becomes a stuttery mess.

Was having fun up to that point but shit performance is gonna make me take some time off until they fix it. Considering how long it took them to fix similar issues in Wo Long I'll probably check back in 6 or so months from now?

This is a 275HX/RTX5090 laptop that can't hold 60 fps btw. The game is absurdly CPU and GPU heavy

88 and 86 meta scores sound pretty good to me, I just don't like Nioh.

combat was pretty decent, story absolute rubbish. lack of enemy variety and everything that wasn't a boss fight just felt way too easy and weightless was a definite drag. i think i need to accept that they aren't going back to nioh 2 and are going to keep going further towards wo long/rise of the ronin style, which i really don't care for. on a positive note the combos in this are pretty cool and there's some great moment to moment gameplay but i just dont enjoy it as much as i'd hoped

getting rid of proficiency kind of annoyed me too

That's really unfortunate. I enjoyed Nioh 1, loved Nioh 2.

Tried to play Wo Long and something just felt 'off' to me, even though it's something I should've liked normally (Nioh style set in the 3 Kingdoms era? Heck yeah).
