    Concerns over Spicyryans wiki powers

    Hey gents,
It appears Spicyryan has gone rogue or salty or whatever. Hes purged a bunch of pages (his own guides mind you) and is seemingly blocking people from making new community guides. I dont know or care what his reasons are, but I felt this is something that needed to be brought up as some people still do use and update the wiki.

I dont believe he has mod powers in this section, so this thread should be safe from his deletion.

Spicyryan is, and has always been a toxic individual. If he wasn't shaming others for gear selection or starting irrelevant arguments, he was busy bullying, and spreading homophobic rhetoric. He is a relic from a time in gaming where such thing were acceptable, but that's no longer the case. He has never grown out of this phase. Unfortunately, people decided to give this individual some amount of control over vital tools and information that help the community and shockingly he is abusing that power.

I love to hate on Spicy as much as the next guy, but can anyone actually link an edit to the wiki where he did something wrong?

I see the temp blocks, but blocking someone for 3 days is tame compared to what I expected when I opened this thread.

    He deleted his guides, e.g.:

Anything can be recovered if really needed.

Anyway I'm sure the other wikis that I see stealing our content every day have copies of his articles too.

I linked the direct post where he was blocking people from editing community guides.

The supposed reason was because someone used wayback to find older copies and put the data back. The disclaimer on the wiki page states that content posted is public domain and is not copyrighted. Banning people, even if only for 3 days, for restoring someone elses work seems to heavily violate that disclaimer because a salty persons feefees got hurt.

I know, but the history is still there and can be restored.

I am just saying that Ryan is, iirc, the same guy who got a tattoo of a girl he wasn't going out with and then followed her home or something. I don't remember the exact story, but I remember thinking "that is some psycho stalker shit. This guy is unstable." Albeit like a decade ago

The level of derangement and destruction I expected when I clicked this thread was orders of magnitude higher than what it delivered.

There is no restorable function for the drg guide nor is there any visible history that i can see available to standard users. Relying on wayback to find cached pages isnt the ideal restoration solution.

The problem isnt “the levels of destruction that happened isnt what I expected”, its the levels of destruction that may occur”. Like you said, he isnt exactly the poster child of mental stability.

It is still restorable, but only by admins. The delete reason was Author Request, which was him of course.

As ostensibly "community" as that guide was, he had something like 99% of the edits and it looks like all of the edits of consequence. If this was in his user space instead of declared a community guide, I would fully support his right to delete it. It being a "'community guide" pushes back the other way, but the fact that he deleted like 300 bytes of community contributions along with his 1.5MB means it was not in practice a community guide.

And then he is banning people from editing the THF community guide because “those were my words you stole from wayback machine” or whatever the bs excuse was seeing as how the wiki disclaimer more of less states “you own nothing you post here”. It only being 3 days is irrelevant.

Him deleting his pages is childish at best. Blocking people and reverting pages in a community guide because “they were my words” is cause for concern.

Whats next? Someone makes an Gaol guide and that gets blocked and access revoked because “Sheol Shop was my idea and no one can make a page for this”?

    Spoiler: show
You already awarded me Top Pooper 2023 so most viewed for the 50th time on AH.com is but a pittance.

Overall, I have said little because there is nothing to say anymore. This is a real mask off moment for the community, and only further validates the decision. Curse with one breath, and gasp in another. Backhand with one hand, but take with another.

It didn't have to be this way, but patience is finite. So from AH.com to reddit to 4chan, enjoy your own feeding frenzy and hysteria.

Also, just my opinion, but some of you really should have a little more integrity before just making up whatever random details when displaying your disapproval. You can disagree or even talk shit, and actually be far more accurate when you do it.

Why did you delete all your work anyways? I actually liked some of your guides as it really helped out of a lot of starting players.

The problem with this logic is he took it over. If he's making all the edits, then no one else needs to cause it's already done. Then he gets the power to delete it? And anyone who tries to fix it he erases it.

Either he's done and gone or still fucking around. It can't be both. A community guide is for the community, no matter who makes the majority edits I should think.

I hate y'all for making me read logs to you. Spicy is the only person I have blocked on BG and it pains me to not be able to enjoy this.

Spicy created the DRG guide in 2017 and there were ten small edits by others in the last seven years. Otherwise, the 500+ edits were all his.

He voluntarily put a phenomenal amount of effort into it and the community benefitted. Instead of just letting it become unmaintained and enjoying the glow of that good will, he now chooses to delete it. That is immature, but it is up to Ragns to make the call about whether it is worth de-admining him. Otherwise is the hope that Funk or I will get into an admin edit war with Spicy? Please, we don't have the time.
