Tutelary's hidden effect?

I can't find any reliable info anywhere for this, but I hear that if you equip toreador's cape and tutelary, the hidden effect of the cape will be negated. Is this true?

But as a PLD with that sword and cape, IF the latents were removed from the cape, it would be very nice. Don't really seeing being used unless you PLD/NIN tank alot.

I have been told by ppl who have it that thte Tutelary counts as blunt damage.

I suppose the best way to test it would be in limbus on the mobs that are only damaged by certain weapon types.

I read your post on FFXIO where you mentioned the damage wasn't piercing but I don't recall you saying what type it actually is. Can you confirm that it is actually blunt or slashing and also what the weapon skills count as. I personally think Tutlery is a piece of shit but if it is considered blunt I could be tempted to add it to my collection.

also some guys in ki have some pics of difference in dmg of joytoy and tut, quite frankly its a huge difference on the per hit:
