thank you for your reply. However, I am not looking for the online virus check that exams your computer and see if there is any virus. I am talking about the website that connects to different trojan horse/virus engine to exam an online file's safty.Originally Posted by SephirothYuyX
I've found a few but they all limit the size to 1 MB and such. Hopefully someone will reply soon with a nice thread of an online file checker.Originally Posted by freewind
Would you mind to share one of the sites please? I think 1MB should be enough in general for most cases.Originally Posted by Maguspk

hehe not this time. Some unknow stupid idiot sent me an email to my hotmail account with an exe attachement, saying that it was a pic we took together. He also mentioned that if the exe attachement was blocked by hotmail then I can download it from an address he included in the email. The reason he gave why the picture is a exe file:Originally Posted by Kaylia

that's the most hilarious excuse I have seen for a long time. I am excited and very curious to know what kind of virus or trojan horse that file is![]()
http://scanner.virus.org/ and http://virusscan.jotti.org/ for scanning individual files.
is there any site that allows an online file checking? I don't want to download that exe file since I am afraid even though I don't open it, it will still infect my computer...Originally Posted by Dezzimal
Don't download bots/hacks from unknown sources.Originally Posted by freewind
But most virii/trojan that use keyloggers and the such are just kiddy scripters and so you are generally ok with just Downloading a File and then running it through a scanner.
As an alternative you could:
Just not download it since you obviously don't trust the source.
Go pay for a Virus Scanner that scans packets as they are received by your computer.
Keep looking for another safer source of the file.
Link me to it and I'll do it. I have a Virtual Machine set up on my PC (operating system within an operating system) set up for just this sort of thing. Its like a cleanroom basically.Originally Posted by freewind
Or like koga said, you're usually safe as long as you don't execute the file in question, but not 100%.
My friend downloaded an exe file before and his machine was infected even though he didn't excute it, so I don't dare to try it myself.Originally Posted by Dezzimal
