They generally don't, it's just a support nuker... thing... I played NIN/RDM up to 70s somewhere and it was pretty fun, but it has like 0 purpose endgame or in merits. I don't think I'd ever take it to an Ultima since the thing is so resistant to normal BLM nukes. Tried it on random things like Genbu and it was a joke.

Backstory is this:

We have a NIN in our Limbus shell. He is a bandwagon in every sense of the word. Got RNG to 75 when RNG Was popular. Got BLM to 75, Then jumped aboard the NINtrain.

He does not know how to play any of them well. His ideas are limited to manaburning the enhanced dragon, as well as all of Apollyon SE. NIN/RDM as an attempt to DD [all :San spells unlocked]. "We don't need RDMs, BRD can refresh" and blocks the melee from having songs. "RNG is good for Jailer of Prudence." Requesting Double Mambo instead of march on today's Ultima, which he went as NIN/RDM as when our only other person in the alliance with Provoke was our NIN/WAR and a single WAR/NIN. Also, All RNGs were instructed to /WHM and use holy bolts with a Light Staff.

Our NIN/WAR forgot his soap. He told us we were going to fight it anyways. We failed. Miserably. After 50% we got to the point where no more than 2-3 people were unweakened at a time, and we were just throwing XP at it.

Afterwards, He declared that we lost because we were halfassing it. "[other NIN] couldn't come in so we have idea "We cant win" so half-ass then u know the rest [sic]" ... "the thing pissed me off is some people fucking give up after u cant enter and blaming me for /rdm[sic]"

May I be the first to say, with maybe 1-2 exceptions, everybody fought as hard as they could, however, it was a foolish fight, with a foolish setup.

I think the build-up is that he never thought it would be possible, and that explaining everything wrong with NIN/RDM would be reason why its not commonly used as a tank but there's really nothing wrong with the build outside of a lack of MP and a heavy guaranteed hate-grabing ability or spell.

That being said, there's plenty of things NIN/RDM has going for it, especially against a mob where the only really lethal move is a retarded non-avoidable magical attack that can deal over 2k damage. Fast Cast, Stoneskin (weak but still decent in cutting down CB damage), and /sub MDB all help against CB damage, the remaining damage can be cut down with Light Resistance gear (50 on Osode alone) and more MDB or Magic Reduction gear.

With enough enmity, spamming debuffs like Sleep/Bind/Blind build good, but not great hate over time. Only major negatives are a lack of abilities or spells with massive hate spikes. MP is also an issue, as there's not going to be much MP leftover for any substantial self-healing. SATA+WS will help for sure, but in a fight like Ultima, that's probably the cleanest and safest way to get it done anyways.

Not a single black magic spell was cast by him at any point in the entire fight. He did not use any MP. His ONLY enmity was an Arhat's Gi +1. Everything else was Haste or INT build.

Edit: our other tank is very good, I'd like to note. But we were having everything riding on he who was unable to enter instead of an attempt of backup or consideration that one tank might falter in a fight.

I don't understand how people can stay in shitty groups like that. Maybe it's just the leader in me, but when shit goes crappy, I don't stay there. I prefer to break off and do it better.

Also theres no decent limbus LS around. I did try to split off once but by co-conspirator bailed on me. Some people think I'm a prick as well (mostly not the skilled people though) because I critisize things like NIN/RDM. Its also hard to get people to leave lses without offering them stuff.

Honestly, outside of the leadership I have some good friends in there. And I believe that devotion to my friends and staying with them is cause enough to make it worthwhile to deal with such incompetance.

Honestly, I usually just put up with it and they often win based on the merits of the few skilled players and we get coins. I be the best I can be, and we usually do decently. The shell was recently reformed, supposedly the person in question was no longer going to be in charge and our star THF[and RNG] was going to take the head. Instead it turned out that he just got put in charge of lotting order for homam and a few people got shuffled. I ideally want and have been waiting for my NIN to be 75 before I make a new shell myself, so I have that versatility.

Sounds like you should be mad at the NIN/WAR for forgetting his soap, not the NIN/RDM for taking a different approach to building his hate. I've seen Sleep tanking by a RDM/NIN and it worked really well, they never lost hate on Tiamat. All in all, you're just looking for someone to blame for losing, get off your high horses thinking you're the shit and stop whining about a lost Ultima?
