Shepherds wants an Optical Hat

Yesterday when doing an optical hat run for I'd estimate 13 players, someone...no something, stalked us down. It was annoying, it was evil, it was a ninja with a earth staff. Shepherds wanted that Optical hat so bad he'd sit there and annoy us between fights. Why couldn't we sacrifice him to the tonberry goddess?

We did, however, decide to have some fun with him, without provoking a possible MPK.

He then tells us he's poor in game and real life. Surely this deserves an optical hat, so he can pay rent!

then he whines about waiting 3 hours when he wasn't invited. Notice the empty slot in Party 3 that wasn't meant for him, we'd have rather summoned a fellowship NPC.

The group kept going after I had to go to sleep. By then they were down to 2 parties. Beats me if he got in, and we assumed he was RMT cause of his murder of the english....Engrish ranguage. Whether he is or isn't is open to debate.

lol, but sarcasm aside, the topic brings to mind something that happened to me, actually.

A couple years ago, we had a single party that was going to go get some carbuncle mitts. Only 2 or 3 of us needed them. We were 75, and we would have been fine since the NM isn't all that hard.

However, one of the people in the party invites a friend along... which is fine. Except that friend invited an entire alliance full of low level summoners who also wanted mitts. So instead of a single PT killing the NM 2 or 3 times in a quick in-and-out mission, we now had an alliance full of level 15-30s. I distinctly remember that each time we popped the NM, this level 30 WHM would die each time. lol

Not only that, but this one guy kept begging to go first, offering to pay whoever was next in line, saying he didn't have time to wait, etc. We were just doing it by /randoms, and he always seem to lose. He did end up being the last person we got to, just by chance, and finally when we got him his mitts, he emoted some profanity at us, called us elitist assholes, and warped out.

I think we were just too nice.

Then Dashuto got the bright fucking idea to invite them in. I got the fuck out of dodge shortly after that (kind of a shame, really, considering I was the one that mostly put the run together).

Ohhh after you left that fucked kept whining. He refused to put his cluster up when it was 2 partys, which worked fine, no deaths, fight just took longer, after that we didn't let him go, he passed his turn, he went in back of line.

Well since this thread is pretty much bogus anyways here's something from IRC to debate:
Rajas ring isn't that great of ring unless you're doing a 6-hit build with it on Samurai.

This was already debated upon on a thread in the technicial question section of the forum. We....well, I've concluded that it's just a WS piece if you do not use it with brutal earring or chiv. chain for store TP+6.

Here's a summary....

The Rajas Ring will get you to 100% sooner if you land at or above 95.3% without it.

95.3 * 1.05 = 100.065

not really... you forgot truncation error there (hay discrete math)
Let's say
TP/hit = 15.9TP -> reach 95.4TP in 6 hits (>95.3)
TP/hit with Rajas = 15.9 * 1.05 = 16.695TP/hit => 16.6TP/hit
16.6TP/hit * 6 hit = 99.6TP

another example:
TP/hit = 10.6 -> reach 95.4TP in 9 hits (>95.4)
TP/hit with Rajas = 10.6*1.05 = 11.13TP/hit => 11.1 TP/hit
11.1TP/hit * 9 hits = 99.9TP

I did the same math but I calculated the TP gain for Maneater/Juggernaut and Maneater/Ridill and Store TP+5 didn't help either of those get 100% TP any faster.

EDIT: I just realize that most people will use Brutal with Rajas so they would have Store TP+6. Redoing the examples

TP/hit = 15.9TP -> reach 95.4TP in 6 hits (>95.3)
TP/hit with Rajas = 15.9 * 1.06 = 16.854TP/hit => 16.8TP/hit
16.8TP/hit * 6 hit = 100.8TP

another example:
TP/hit = 10.6 -> reach 95.4TP in 9 hits (>95.4)
TP/hit with Rajas = 10.6*1.06 = 11.235TP/hit => 11.2 TP/hit
11.2TP/hit * 9 hits = 100.8TP

So it seems using Brutal+Rajas and for the poor Chiv. Chain, they can get 100% tp 1 swing faster......
