I'd be really surprise if they implemented this Scan to detect the actual Windower. Other tools like bot, certainly. Windower, at least not until they release their own...

This scan has nothing to do with getting R0. You're experienceing a different problem.

I'm glad he's getting R0'd on login, atleast i'm not the only one. Anyone do what's mentioned in the op yet? I'm installing Process Guard right now, better safe than sorry I suppose.

No the thing is.. my i used windower and loged on my main character and it was fine and all until I used the /recast plugin i dcd then i went back in normally also on windower and i was still in whitegate .. when i wanted to go to this pt in Mount.Z as soon as i used the runic portal I got R0 and that was it.. i cant warp or do anything i login normally but when it loads the character and stuff i get r0 instantly.. its so weird because i loged in my mules and it was fine 100% .. the problem was in my main character
anyone have any suggestions? and the R0 still appears even w/o windower which really makes mad!

I believe an issue with recast plugins, etc was mentioned in another thread. I don't really feel like digging it up, though.

The R0 you're experiencing is just an issue at their end. Like I said, I was R0ing when I tried logging onto my main character and kept dcing. Other people were online, so it was just to some people, some characters, rather. My issue fixed itself now though, and i've been on windower this entire time.

After hearing about the check I downloaded ProcessGuard and blocked POL from checking my windower file again, however I have to get a couple concerns off my chest.

If I've already been scanned while using windower prior to taking these measures to block it, then in the grand scheme of things, is preventing further checks really going to matter? Assuming (worst case scenario) they're going to use this information as ammunition to ban accounts and/or make an example of people, then I'm guessing that one time was enough to flag the account, no? I've read the arguments about personal privacy in the other thread and I get it. I'm speaking solely about FFXI accounts in this post.

Also a second slightly paranoid question: do you think the name of the windower exe file makes a difference? Being a nervous guy I changed the name of the "launcher" file when I heard about the scan thinking that would actually do something (yeah, I know). Is that going to send up red flags saying "zomg he opened POL with something other than launcher!" assuming they're not banning those with windower?

Why would you assume the absolute least likely scenario though? It's like saying (pre March 7 update) "OK guys I'm gonna upgrade a relic. Assuming I go camp Sozu and get the drop 5 times in a row, it should be pretty easy."

I have a very VERy difficult time believing that:

1. They have installed a process in POL that reports back to SE on windower use without providing the end user some degree of authentication. Strikes me as being a little unethical.

2. SE would cull data on windower users and massively ban them considering that they would a) lose a majority of their PC playerbase and b)they stated publicly that they were working on providing a windowed mode.

If they ban me simply because I used windower then so be it. But I'll be damned if I stop using it.

It means I just logged in and suddently stopped dcing. No I didn't speak to anyone, just waited it out.

Yea i logged into mules and its fine. Im not using any plugins, and it didnt start R0ing after doing anything... Just after zoning. Mules work fine still, but i keep R0'ing on my mains ;;... Gonna keep trying i guess
