iPod - DVD > MP4(AVC) Converter?

I recently got the iPod 30gb and I wanted to load a couple movies up. When I went browsing around the web I found a lot of tools which are overall not that great in terms of use, settings and quality. So I'm just wondering if anyone converts DVDs to iPod movies, what programs do you like and use?

If you're running OS X, iSquint is an *excellent*, free application with a drag/drop interface that will convert nearly any popular media format into a format that's compatible with your iPod. It can also convert things for Apple's new AppleTV.

There's also a professional version, but that's not free.


EDIT: There's also QuickTime Pro, but from my experience, it tends to be slower than iSquint. It costs money as well, unless you torrent a cracked version. The obvious advantage here is that it's multi-platform, so you could run it on lolWindows. I would go with iSquint if you've got a mac, though.

Should have said, on Vista/XP (depending on computer). And Quicktime looks like you need to rip to AVI first then transcode for the iPod. I don't care that much for a video on a 2" screen.
