Yeah 65 I think is the earliest you can even consider it. I dropped him early on just b/c I wanted the spell. Found out later you can buy it. Just let him roam.

Did THF get buffed or something? I've played the JP NES version of the game, and I never once used THF. Or DRG except for one fight. And I beat the game with 2x Ninjas and 2x Sages at level 50ish. I can't imagine even getting close to 71 let alone 99.

FF3 is still kind of frustrating to me, since I don't really know where i'm supposed to go and stuff.

Yes, I realize that it resembles FF1 and 2 more in the sense that you can do whatever you want, but it's still kind of confusing since if you stop playing the game for even a day or two, and you load up your save, you don't even know what you were doing.

At 66, I went 0/12 and decided I should go level up some more.

    70: 0/4

    72: 0/8

    74: 1/6

And yes by the time I finally got it I was already using Excal/Rag on my PLD and the best katanas on my NIN for melees so DRG with Gungnir was totally useless (lolirony?). Stupid elixirs.

Screw lolDragoon with Gungnir. All you need is Ninjas, Warriors and a Sages!

I believe so, from reading forums from people who played the Japanese version to having played the DS version I think the thief job has changed dramatically. I currently have Nin, Drg, Thf, Whm and have already passed the game, my Thf from about level 20 on was my largest damage dealer.

As far as Excalibur and Ragnarok, they were fun for throwing.

yeah i remenber reading somewhere that they tweaked alot of the jobs since in the JP version alot of them were useless compared to nin and sages

They completely revamped the job system. Ninja and Sage were gimped a lot, and other jobs were buffered to hell.

Also, the 71 and 99 are job levels, not character levels. (job levels are pretty easy to raise..)

Equip your Sage with the Ultimate Rod and a Golem Staff, then watch him petrify his target in one round.
