Oh Dear God I hope not...I just finished watching it, and it was --awful--

I could care less about the historical inaccuracies, I can convince myself that this is a "movie" and fiction, but even as a movie, it sucked. The lines were unoriginal, and it tried way too hard to be like Gladiator.

Also, here's something to chew on:

Most interestingly, in light of current events, there's also the lily-livered and treacherous politician Theron, who whines and moans to the Senate about Leonidas waging an illegal war against the Persians before getting a consummate smackdown. Director Zack Snyder swore to The New York Times this week that it never occurred to him that these scenes might give his movie the whiff of allegory. I guess we'll have to take his word for it. But after Leonidas' queen, Gorgo, delivers a speech that actually includes the canard "freedom isn't free," the film's hyper-militaristic fantasia gains a distractingly lunkheaded music-and-lyrics-by-Toby-Keith political dimension.

I haven't read the graphic novel, but in terms of movies, I was totally disappointed in 300...[/quote]

Anyone else hate it when a great movie gets any form of popularity, news organizations and the likes are already classifying it to have political undertones and suggestive biased views about the world today (300, V for Vendetta). Seriously, DIE IN A SLOW BURNING FIRE. >:( dfsdfsdf >:(

    Can't wait for 10,000 <3 raaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaapeeeeeeeeee, lol.

You're saying I'm letting other people think for me? Read the "Dining in hell" post, it looks like everyone's just going off what other people think/want to think like everyone else.

The main point of my post was to say I didn't like the movie--for its "cinematic" value, with no necessary reference to its historical (in)accuracy. Plus, what I posted about the "political undertones" was just something I found interesting. It can seem like it fits, but doesn't mean it fits necessarily -- it's just an interesting opinion.

Unless "an interesting opinion" can only be defined as yelling/screaming "for Sparta" while wearing nothing more than a leather speedo.

For those of you that -did- like the movie, can I know why? Not in an insulting way, I just want to know what of the movie makes it so "epic," because I'd like to know what I'm missing.

You guys don't know shit about Frank Miller's recent works.

It's far from his best. Stop creaming yourselves in the name of BG Bandwagonnery.

And let's not forget Frank Miller is also responsible for the writing for Robocop 2 AND 3.

I'm willing to think he's gotten better at screenwriting and his relationship with directors has improved since 1993, but there's a lot of brainless 'omg me too' douchebaggery writ dissenting opinions going on of late in General Disc. The second someone disagrees with you it's 'go die in a fire' or 'lol ur opninion sux gtfo.' Grow the fuck up, please.

The movie was epic, don't get me wrong, it had awesome fight scenes, great special effects, and good acting, but the plot was nowhere near a great one.
