Just wondering : does the light damage generate any hate when hitting a mob with Hauteclaire ?
Assuming the light damage is the same one with Holy bolt's, then the answer is "yes, but they generate very little hate compared to if they are physical damage"
Yep that's exactly what I'm assuming...Holy Bolts, Excalibur, that kind of effect. I wanted to know for sure, from someone who has a Hauteclaire and has tanked stuff with it.
I don't see the point of giving weapons with an additional effect that doesn't add noticeable hate, to a tanking job :/
excalipoor added effect doesn't add hate
who else would you give the sword to? >.>aOriginally Posted by vegetaa
-7% damage is nice for tanks too <.<
Not really a matter of who I would give the sword to, it's more that I would make it so the additional effect helps a tank build more hate from the additional damage.
And of course the sword is very good for PLDs...just wondering about the additional effect.
The add effect on Hauteclaire doesnt really proc enough to make a difference in generating hate. I havent parsed it to see but i'm guessing only a 10% proc rate, and when it does proc its only an extra 10-15 dmg. While it probably does add to hate, its so minimal its not worth counting. Its not like a pld is trying to keep hate with damage anyway.
Additional effect doesn't give hate.
dng ding ding.Originally Posted by Not Kuno
Wait, so there are people that want a Hauteclaire for the additional effect: light damage and not because of the omgPhysicalDamageTaken-7%? Is this like the 'WAR who got Hydra Haubert over a PLD' story all over again?
holy shit why do people even still bring that up lol.Originally Posted by Rasengan
worst.
analogy.
ever.
Are there any ? I don't see that written anywhere in this thread ><Originally Posted by Rasengan
You mean you read somewhere in this thread, someone would give the sword to DRKs before giving it to PLDs ? Are we reading the same thread ?Originally Posted by Rasengan
Anyway, thanks for the answers guys !
Well, Hauteclaire can be used by PLDs and DRKs. Earlier, you said:I don't know about you, but I believe PLDs would count as a tanking job.Originally Posted by vegetaa
Let me rephrase it in a better way then :Originally Posted by Rasengan

Hint: People don't want the sword for it's add effect.Originally Posted by vegetaa
yeah yeah.
That doesn't change a single thing from the sentence before.Originally Posted by vegetaa
I think you mean, it's not AS efficient, practical, convenient... for SE to give a sword without means of acquiring additional hate through additional effect damage. Unless that additional effect would be provoke, stun, bind... I don't think any of them would do much anyways. This doesn't change the fact that this sword is pretty damned good and grants a new item slot for -%damage for pld.
IT CAN'T GIVE HATE BECAUSE THEN HOW WOULD DRKS BE ABLE TO USE IT?
That's sort of what I mean, yes. Even if a PLD doesn't count his damage as a reliable source of hate, I guess it could be a nice enhancement if they could get a little more by this mean. It's true for Hauteclaire, which has an Accuracy bonus, and even more with Excalibur which has an attack bonus, and is supposed to be the ultimate sword for who can equip it (I know it's not exactly the case, even though Tekki and a few other ppl seem to enjoy it a lotOriginally Posted by SassiAsura

Actually, do the additional effects such as "provoke", "stun", "bind" and such, give any hate at all ?Originally Posted by SassiAsura
Yes it isOriginally Posted by SassiAsura
Thinking about it, it's nice to see all the love PLDs have received from S-E, in the last few months

And basically, why did they allow DRKs to equip that sword btw ?!
