Playstation 2 Memory cards

Alright - a little while ago my first memory card slot on my PS2 stopped working. It wasn't much of a problem as I could still use the 2nd slot; however, today I bought two new games and they both won't allow me to save on the 2nd slot (it only reads the first slot by default and doesn't even pay attention to the second one). Considering that the first slot is broken then it is, obviously, impossible for me to save my games...

Is there any way to change this in the settings or something? The two games are "Tales of Legendia" and "Disgaea" if it helps at all ;/

certain games will only use the first slot, dont know why they act like that but there isnt really much you can do about it unfortunately.

Yeah.. I've tried a few things but figured as much - I guess I'll have to borrow a PS2 off someone or buy a new one. Much to my dismay ~_~
