Computer Upgrade

So here's the question. I'm thinking about upgrading my computer a bit. I dont have all that much cash atm so i'm choosing between two different things.

The problem is that i get irritating lag in places where there's alot of ppl. Like dynamis and such, Or around Whitegate AH lol. ^^
Much of it comes from my Geforce 7600GT PCI-express because i have bad drivers. Don't really know what drivers to use and i've tried many different ones.

ATM i have:
AMD Athlon 64 Dual-Core 3800+ 2.0ghz
1gb ram
oh and the Geforce 7600GT

I'm thinking about upgrading the processor or the 1gb memory. But i dont know wich of em will reduce the lag the most.
Any idéas?

For processor i was thinking about getting a AMD 64 Dual-Core 4600+ 2.4ghz or slighty better than that.
Or going from 1gb memory to 2gb. What would help the most? ^^

First off, the lag you're experiencing is latency lag, not hardware lag. It happens to everyone.

Anyways, the processor upgrade will be marginal for you probably. I recommend upgrading your RAM to 2GB. Doubling your RAM does a lot more for your PC than a small upgrade to your processor. Your video card is fine.

Yeah i know alot of it is latency lag. But it's the annoying bard song lag and all in dynamis >< well, not just that. but that makes it alot worse. thx for the respons ^^

FFXI is mainly prossesor based your GPU dosent realy help much

i can prolly pull mine out ad it would run then same as i have it now

and yes i agree go with the ram upgrade u will see a diff there

i upgraded from 1gig-3gigs on this comp about 2 months ago saw a HUGE diff in proformance from everything

got 3gigs of ram and dual core 2 6600 @2.40ghz and i can triple box in dyna without much problems usaly i only get stuck dual boxing dyna's boring as hell playin dyna on 1 character 2-3 even worse coardinating them all
