Need a new file sharing program

I usually get most of my multimedia files (music, videos, etc.) from message boards, but the content on them is very limited. I'm looking for a new way to get stuff, whether it be a torrent program or whatever. What do you guys recommend?

Bittorrent network: fast
Edonkey/Kad network: slower but has more obscure files

Will I need a firewall for any of these? I have Kaspersky Internet Security, and it catches pretty much everything that comes through, but I don't know if that is enough.

Some friends recommended Azureus, so I'm using that now. It's pretty cool.

I used and loved Azureus for years...but the day I switched to uTorrent (out of curiosity), I never looked back.
