    Firefox

so finally decided to give it a try since I always hear people using it but I've run into 2 major things that unless theres a way to change I just can't stand it, so looking to see if there is.

First is whenever I use the dropdown bar for sites I've visited it always overwrites my current window instead of opening in a new tab(the open in new tab option doesn't change this), clicking links to offsite things doesnt open in new tabs either.

Second is it didn't bring any of my favorites over, which is just stupid and there must be something simple to fix that.

Anyways, any help would be appreciated.

    Re: Firefox

if you have a wheel mouse, clicking on the wheel while over links creates a new tab, mouse wheel click over tabs closes them. This is the single thing i use the most in firefox.

control + t creates a new tab also. there is something in firefox that lets you import the links from IE but i haven't used it in a long time. you can look in the help, i'm sure its there.

edit: lol found it in about 10 secs. ppl should really just poke around a lil to find it... anyway, Bookmarks > Manage Bookmarks > File > Import > From Internet Explorer

yea poked around and couldnt find it anywhere, but ill take a look then.

as far as the mouse wheel clicking thing, isnt there a setting to just make it do it? not gonna use mouse wheel clicking, ill just go back to old browser that actually supported the feature the way i wanted.

That has to be one of the most retarded excuses I've ever heard. It's less than half an inch away, regardless of what kind of mouse you're using.

    Re: Firefox

why? i have a browser that doesn't require mouse wheel clicking which is the most retarded idea i've ever heard of. i was willing to try firefox but it's pointless to use it if it involves more work than my current browser anyways.

Mouse wheel clicking is fucking awesome once you're used to it. Firefox has a fuckload of plugins and options, just tinker and you'll find a setup you like.

    Re: Firefox

not many browsers that give you this level of customization. I'm sure there is a setting to make the default link click feature open as new tab, look around the preferences for a bit.

also, for even more customization: about:config is your friend.

    Re: Firefox

yea couldnt find the about:config that people were talking about and gave up. not used to mouse wheel clicking nor is it worth getting used to where i have a browser that doesnt require it.

    Re: Firefox

protip: try typing about:config into the address bar. (it's like all other aboutages, although the only one you've probably seen on IE is about:blank)

You're either thick or lazy or both.

Tools > Options > Tabbed Browsing > Links

    Could it be more obvious?

that's not an option in the menu.

seriously, if i can get it to work the way i want it to i'll use it, i don't see what's better about it but i want to at least try it out.

Aside from it being a more elegant browser, it's 56836847 times more secure.

It isn't as good for you as it is for me.

By not using IE you won't go to a website which you get omwtfbbqpwned by viruses that send spam that ends up in my mailbox.

Mine automatically goes to it. >.> Unless I somehow mess up and click the link (to type something) instead of just single click.
