    Router/DHCP (?) issue

For some reason, lately my router has been 'randomly' (although I doubt it's really random) dropping the connection to all of the devices connected to it. I'll be going fine, then all of my devices lose connectivity at once. I think it's an issue with the DHCP server, because for some reason, my devices aren't listed when I look at the DHCP table, but they still connect to the internet. When I do 'Repair connection' with my PCs, they do show up under the DHCP table.

If this info helps, I've got a PS2, XBox 360, and 2 PCs hooked up to my router. The router model is BEFW11S4, firmware 1.52.02 ( which is the latest). Also, this problem seemed to start when I upgraded the firmware, so I think maybe that messed something up. Any help would be most appreciated

Also, even though this is a wireless router, everything is connected via ethernet cables

100% sure its the Firmware. The latest firmware for several Linksys models suck. If you have to stick with this firmware, disable the DHCP and assign each machine a static IP.

Is there any way I can downgrade the firmware to the version I had? Unfortunately, I don't have a link to it, but I'm sure I could find it if I looked hard enough.

Yea. Just find the firmware and 'upgrade' it like you would normally.
Out of curiosity, which version is the router? 1, 2, 3, 3.2, 4?

Version 4. I think I'm going to attempt to set static IPs to all of my devices.

Thanks a ton for the help. I already assigned static IPs to all of my devices, so I'm hoping that'll fix the problem. Just in case though, I downloaded the old firmware. Again, I really appreciate all the help!

    Re: Router/DHCP (?) issue

The routing table fills up, it barfs.. bad design, etc.

Dump it or preemptively reset it in the morning or something.

EDIT: Oh ya, and don't immediately assume it is cause you upgraded the firmware.. though downgrading to the one you had that worked is a good idea (if you were not having problems, why did you update it?)

In my experience the reason a router starts to drop more than normal is because one of the PCs connected to it has received a virus and it is going out trying to connect to every other computer on the Internet to attack or spam which fills up the routing tables even faster.

    Re: Router/DHCP (?) issue

Well, I had had R0 problems in FFXI for the longest time, so I decided to upgrade the firmware. I haven't had an R0 problem since, although the 'dropped' connection thing started happening. My PCs have anti virus software, and there's nothing on either system. And like I said, the DHCP table wasn't showing any entries from my devices, which strikes me as more than odd.
