So I'm bored and want to paint my gear horrible colours.
Is ffximc.com a reputable site with safe downloads?

Eh, you'll get the same thing at ffxidats (Except thats REALLY fucking slow and sometimes redirects you for some reason).
Photoshop + NVidia dds thing and a few other programs.
Don't think you'll need Virtual Reality program or Metsoquia, unless you want to model some shit.

FFXIMC should have all the same stuff though. You only need modelviewer, GC3, and Photoshop to change textures. Unless you want to make the textures bigger, then you need VRS, Changetex, and a hex editor.
For the love of god, don't make any superbright neon crap! I swear half the mods on ffxidats were done by colorblind schizophrenic monkeys.

What the shit is that?
It's all too complicated for my liking, I was just going to change the trim on blm af2 from purple to pink, but I can't be fucked to download and learn photoshop. PSP fo' life.
Yeah when your in photochop, all you do when you see the BLM mesh is change it just a hint.
Like this:
I AM THIS COLOR
I AM THIS COLOR
Yeah, FFMC is reputable. The mod scene has died down somewhat of late however. And second the fruity color comment. A lot of stuff looks terrible and doesn't fit at all, don't be that guy.
Also, you don't necessarily need photoshop in order to do it. GC3, Changetex, and The Gimp (Freeware Graphics editing software, has most of the features of PS) will get the job done for you. Are you just referring to the purple areas like the trim or what?

(although I'd have to finish the hat and that little tiny part on the back of the shoes, and probably swap that grayish part on the front because it doesn't go well with pink)
I wish FFXIdats would get their servers to stop switching between blazing fast and oh god it takes 15 minutes to load one page because they have the best tutorials I've seen stickied on the forums, grumpyrarab's didn't work very well for me.
You could technically change it in something like MSPaint as long as you have something like graphics converter 3 to change it with. Open up the bmp that modelviewer makes, change the purple parts pink, slap it into GC3 and switch formats. Sometimes you run into horrible nightmares with alpha but it shouldn't happen with a simple recolor like this.
That's the kind of thing I had in mind, but it of course occurred to me that everyone else with that gear would have the shiny pink too, so I've rather gone off the idea.![]()
Then I slaved away over this hat for nothing! I did learn how to stop gc3 from making my stuff end up with that awful green tint though, so I guess some good came out of it.
It does look sort of awkward when everyone is running around with your fabulous new mod; the only idea I have is replacing something no one else really wears ever with your mod, but then you look silly to other people standing around town in full carapace gear.

FFXIdats is kind of funny, because you have some really nice mods from people like Takari, but then you have a thousand other people that think the game doesn't have enough neon eyes, spiked neon hair, scars, henna... I still like skimming through them but a lot of them don't even have the right skin tone.
