    Partioning a Harddrive

my HD is a 200 gig HD, but for some reason XP only sees it as a 127.99 gig HD. My question is can I partion the remaining gigs that windows doesnt see without wiping what I have on it already. And if so, how would I go about doing it (like what partion type and such).

Control Panel > Administrative Tools > Computer Management.

Hightlight the drive you're looking at and post what it shows as the status for the remaining space. Chances are you should be able to right click and set as partition, format and set active.

Just partition the drive off and format. It will provide you with a 'second' drive. Be careful you work on this segment and don't accidently work on your OS partition.

Ah ok. So partion it as a primary (the Manager shows 2 pieces ... one as a 127.99 gig piece and another as a 58.99 piece and I can partion them seperatly) and all should be well without wiping my HD first? If so I will do this and hope for the best

    Yep >.>

Use default format and allocation settings unless you need a specific setting.

You can pretty much do what you want with this portion, split it into smaller chunks etc. The only thing you cannot touch is your main 'C' partition which contains your OS, without losing your data.
