    RNG/SAM

    I had one of these in a merit party...so I was just confused. Is this actually a good idea? He was using a vulc. staff but I wouldn't think Hasso haste would effect Ranged attack. Was it just for the STR bonus+ 3rd eye and Seigan? It didn't quite make sense...but I don't know great deals on RNG at all. Just wanna know if I should be indignant about such things or not...

    Typically SAM/RNG goes with Soboro and spams Sidewinder, dunno what the hell the SAM/RNG in your PT was doing with a Vulcan's staff lol.

    he said rng/sam. I've tried it a few times and am always disappointed. /war just offers more in my eyes. but if i went /sam i'd definately melee to make better use of all that store tp. hasso/seigan be damned.

    rng/sam is pretty weak when i comes to merits and if you are using a staff even more so I prefer /sam though on things that I wont be meleeing or kited mobs its pretty nice then but if i can smack it around with an axe /sam is kinda silly

    I cant believe you are forgetting.-

    * Meditate
    * Store TP

    Both can help a lot speeding up sidewinder output wich means more damage, IMO this combo can parse higher than RNG/NIN, its not as safe as RNG/NIN but as long seigan can keep you alive and doesnt stress your healing support things work nice.

    IMO Meditate and Stoer TP alone are better than any offhand that can bring /NIN, Vulkan Staff and Seigan STR and Rattck are a nice little bonus in this setup.

    60 tp every 3 minutes isn't all that much, you would lose more than that by incidental melee attack rounds between shots.. what I would be more worried about is the fact that it would be hard to actually use the extra TP without getting your arse handed to you on a platter, since this is the colibri camp we are talking about.. Ranger + Colibri + Third Eye? Third eye is good, but I lament for your healer.

    seriously. on colibris i'm generally happiest if i have a solid nin so the other melees can use subs that do more to help their damage output...but i once xped there with a kraken rng/war and i have never had a more stressful merit party in my career as a rdm. even camping smack dab in the middle of the scoffin pops when the mamoolja staging point was everyones' favorite xp camp and the place was jampacked did not compare to trying to keep that ranger alive. rangers on colibris are the one melee i insist sub /nin if i'm in charge of keeping them alive.
