spyware/etc shit on pc killer/protection programs?

i used to use adaware until i formatted and havn't done anything to guard/delete spyware, or virus checks for about half a year now... and the results have been staring to show up lately

google fails me, so i turn to bg... what do you guys use? i'd rather have a free one, and one that's painless to use (ie; run program, click on scan, it scans and asks me to delete, i delete... the end)
any suggestions would be nice too, thanku

    Ad-aware 6.0

    Spybot S&D

    AVG antivirus

none have failed me, ever, unless I actively bypassed them to put a virus/spyware on the computer in question (namely keyloggers and the like on my sister's comp for passwords of mine she steals and changes), all are free, and all are easily findable through google

CCleaner after you've done all that.

at work, I use about 4-6 different programs multiple times depending on how fubar'd there system is.

    http://www.trojanhunter.com
    Adaware 6.0 or 7.0
    http://www.spybot.com
    AVG Free http://www.grisoft.com
    Nod32 http://www.eset.com

and then once i'm clear there, cccleaner and trial version of system mechanic pro to get rid of the shit in the registry.

As for home use, I'm using PC-Cillian now for 2+ years with no trouble.

    >_> I should really get a registry fixer program, i've done everything registry related manually so far (and nothing's fucked yet!)

CCleaner cleans the registry, just click Issues.

CCleaner it is then, it'll significantly shorten the time i take to fix friend's comps (hi2u 200+ viruses (bad ones, I'm more amazed the computer still turns on than by the viruses at that point))

    Never, ever use Internet Explorer.

    Seriously.

Ah, but these are people who... (I cant think of a good example)... would trust the anonymously posted omfggoodgamehack.exe on a sketchy forum, they don't know not to not use IE, or not to download stuff unless it's cleared by the resident techies in the group (which has been voted the most effective thing to do)

The same thing could happen to an idiot who happens to use FF, too. Don't blame the browser for user faults.
