Soloing Shadows of the departed

I have read on the forums (yes i searched) about people soloing to the top of the towers. today i dusted off my ranger loaded up with holy/bloody/acid bolts and was barley able to get to the third floor and got killed by that boss. i read that people were out of the AoE range and are able to kill it but i stood at 25 even and was still hit with every AoE. i tried running out of range and that did not work. any tips or tricks or do i have to bribe some one to come with me?

Blu/nin does it easy.

Use cocoon and metallic body to buff up obviously, use feather storm to take out strays. Than spam bludgeon and head butt on the receptacles(yes they are stunnable). Hit them with a wild oats (VIT down) and sprout smack for good measure also. I used sushi for food(all your damage is spells really and you don't want to miss) and one yag drink per receptacle.

EDIT: Didn't use NPC to do this, I did all three towers.

It is doable without fellows; one time I killed my way up as thf/nin with bolts. It was extremely difficult, I ended up dying eventually. Best bet: get a friend.

Soloed holla as war/thf. /autotarget on, open each fight with sturmwind and target the strays quickly, I don't see how you could fail with an NPC partner.

tried this. got to third floor and the MR just started spewing strays around 50% and i could not keep the MP up to kill both strays and MR

Haven't tried it myself, but what lvl are poison bolts? Poison bolt MR, Drain bolts on strays. Bolts generally 1 shot the strays.

Venom bolts. And yes, that is how I did it. It took a long long time.
