    Angel Skin / Devil Manta

I guess RMT banninations have had an adverse affect on the supply of Angel Skins... cause I rarely see them on the AH anymore and when I do, they are rising in price, at least on my server.

I'm in need of a pair of cursed gloves, but I don't know if I can justify buying them while they continue to rise in price (converse to the general economy as a whole).

So here I am with my level 18 Fishing skill, trying to figure out how to go about catching some Devil Mantas for a chance at an Angel Skin... looking for some advice basically:

    - What is the best spot to fish them up?
    - I'm under the impression that fishing skill is irrelevant for monsters, is this true?
    - Does Treasure Hunter affect the drop rate of the skin? (assuming yes)
    - What's the best Rod & Bait/Tackle to use? or is this also irrelevant?

I've looked up as much as I can on the lolWiki, but I was hoping for some more info or first hand accounts of hunting down this beast.

Composit Fishing Rod and Fly Lure, best place of course is in Kuftal Tunnel by Yowie, and Phantom Worm pop area there is a small body of water there. Not sure about TH though, as for fishing skill was able to fish one up with a low fishing level. So it probably doesn't matter.

There are only really two spots, the place Greenjade described, and the waters outside in Cape Terrigan. Kuftal Tunnel has a repop rate of 15+ minutes, while Cape Terrigan's is closer to 50+. On top of that, the fished monsters are on the whole lower level in Kuftal.

Fishing skill has no bearing on fishing monsters. Remember that if you see "Something caught the hook!" with only one ! it is a rusty item and you should cancel out of it.

Yes, TH makes a big difference. I've had about 1/4~1/5 drop rate with my TH4, most of the people I know who sub THF or don't at all are more like 1/10.

The rod/bait is relevant, you want something that doesn't catch actual fish and won't break. Composite Rod, Mithran Fishing Rod, or Lu Shang's (I know I know) are all good rod choices. Fly Lure is the most preferable lure because you will only catch monsters when you get !!!'s. Shrimp Lure works as well but you will often get tangled up with legendary fish (I think they're Cave Cherax) which will kick your ass if you don't have any fishing skill, and just generally waste your time.

Do you do this often? Just wondering if it's crowded down there or w/e.

TH3 only... But I was mainly wondering if I'd see a benefit in going THF vs. NIN.

Are the rods you listed guaranteed not to break or should I bring some crystals to repair them? Also, am I ok with just one Fly Lure or can line break? Been forever since I fished... so I should only try to reel in when I get three exclamations to get the Manta?

Bring THF, there's no good reason not to. The mobs are easy to solo, esp if you bring Acid/Sleep/Bloody Bolts.

The rods I've listed are guaranteed not to break with Fly Lure. If you actually ever managed to get a Cave Cherax to low stamina and reel it in (with Shrimp Lure), I think it could possibly break the Mithran rod. That simply won't happen without high fishing skill though.

Three exclamations means monster. It could be a Crab, Pugil, or Manta. Chances are if it's *tough* to pull in and its stamina goes down very slowly, then it's a Manta. Don't lose these because if you do, the Manta repop timer will reset and no one will get a Manta for 15 minutes because you screwed up.

Also, you can't line break unless you try to reel in the fish before depleting its stamina. Just avoid doing this by getting good at reeling fish in.

!!! You have a terrible feeling about this one....
!!! YOU are positive you don't have enough skill to reel this one in..

These are the only 2 guaranteed large fish messages that I recall...there have been a third, but rest assured either one of those will be a cave cherax

Angel Skin is about a 10% fixed drop rate. TH don't do shit for it. Im a 75THF and average 1/12 with TH3. And i got friends who go with 0 TH and go 3/7. When you add up all the manta kills when you're there for weeks at a time, its about a 10% drop rate.

    Nah, only did it a few times. Since I usually follow Evangel around and he was trying it, so I figured I'd give it a shot too. Got bored after a while and yea... <.<;

    kuftal tunnel
    Fishing skill doesnt matter
    doesnt seem to matter
composition rod/shrimp lure or fly lure

you want to see "Somthing has caught the hook!!!"

if you see one !, then just dont real it in because its not what ur after, repop is 12 mins from DT.
and if you dont reel it in and you had it, its another 12mins, idk if they fixed it though

The ones in Cape Terrigan don't drop Angel Skins anymore, and haven't for well over a year.
