Not sure if this has been asked/covered before, but I had a question on the use for the SAM tier 2 Job Trait Overwhelm.

In order for the extra ws damage to proc, do you, or do you not have to have hate on the mob, or can you really just be in front of the mob. The details on the merit menu vaguely says while face-to-face with an opponent, I took this to mean you need to directly have the mob beating on you in order to get the bonus, while others have taken the stance you can just swing to a mobs face and do the WS, regardless of it's attention on you.

Anyone can clarify this, I'm interested if it's really worth meriting.

You need to be infront of the mob, like sneak attack needs to be behind the mob, that's all.

It's definately up there, but I think Warrior's Charge, Assasin's Charge, Feint, and Angon would give it a run for its money in terms of being the best.

Desperate Blows is the most broken Group 2 merit in the game.

Overwhelm > WC/AC easily since it works on every WS instead of on a timer.

Lol just kidding about the Bio III. Overwhelm is an extremely nice merit period. And I agree that it does belong in the same group as the others listed here.

I wouldnt say AC and Warrior's Charge are epic group2 merits. They're worth having, but the difference between maxing those out andjust putting one merit in em is negligible.


But what do I care, I can FFXIAPP my thief to get a triple proc on both hands every WS.

The epic group two merits, in no particular order, would be Angon, Overwhelm, Feint, Desperate Blows, Chivalry, Devotion, Slow II, and Snake Eye.

Most of those should be merited 3/3.

War and Assassins charge are nothing amazing compared to Overwhelm.

Overwhelm is 15% boost on ALL WSs, which happen more frequently for a SAM than anyone else.

Charges are a ~30% boost about every 9 WSs.

Do the math.
