Where to buy a cheap laptop

Can anyone point me to a forum or something where it is possible to get a decent laptop (something higher than 1 ghz lol) for a moderate price. a forum for used laptops is fine just looking for something I can use at school. To take notes, surf the web, or watch movies on. Also able to support FFXI would be a plus. I'd really like a portable to be able to do some things at school or at work, but I can't really justify paying a shit ton of money for what some people call a "Basic" laptop, since I may not use it everyday since I have my home computer. I've tried ebay but trying to find a good deal amid a sea of shitty ass P3's, plus some people hunt for the good deals so they can resell them.

wait for black friday. normally best buy has some super cheap deals for pretty decent laptops. if you don't mind packing some heat for the eventual fights while waiting in line then you'll be getting a bargain.

looking for sub $400 what my budget can do atm (i r poor). Probably more around the end of the month. I was set to buy a really nice one but I had to buy a car so that wiped the $4 grand I had in the bank.

Really just looking for a message board area that I can find a deal on a good used one, as I said before I may not use it more than 3-4 times a week. Also a used one might not have Vista already installed.

I'd wait for Black Friday - I'd virtually guarantee there will be a sub $400 basic laptop sale from your Best Buy/Circuit City/what have you, which will be able to run FFXI just fine and do what you need. The only problem will be getting one that doesn't come with piece of shit Vista pre-installed - no advice on that from me.

Very easy to upgrade (comes with an extra hard drive slot, and can upgrade processor and RAM to 4 gigs), and the GeForce 7600 Go card runs FFXI great at just about the highest settings, at least in my limited experience so far.

check out fatwallet or slickdeals. Black friday you can get a good deal but those items are loss leaders, they just get people in the door, they sell out within the first hour, tops. I am a deal seeker but I never go on black friday, its a circus and i don't like waking up early just to deal with crowds (its really insane).

My bro just got a good deal on a laptop but deal is dead. Was a Celeron though, total was $250 plus a $50 best buy giftcard due to a misprint in the ad. He paid 50 bucks to buy 2 gigs of mem and he says it works really well, but he doesn't game on it i don't think, only does work.

a guy at work has one of these, he likes (i dont but whatever) its not a bad laptop, but just remember you're buying some off brand probably chinese made pc that gets pretty hot apparently, and its also refurbished
