I think two things come to mind about a potential series: Either a direct story continuation in regards to Harry's kids, or a spinoff that focuses on one of the other 10 wizarding schools.
When I read the topic title the first thing that came to mind was:
I thought it was a nice alternate view on it lol
I always thought Aurors were the way to go when approaching alternate HP stories.

JK Rowling in talks to be a producer.
Have they really not realized Rowling’s the worst thing about the series?
Has her continued involvement actually shown any tangible loss of money for everyone involved?
I don't know how they're going to stretch the first three books out to cover a whole season each if we assume a season length of 10 episodes @ 42min each.
That doesn't change my question.
If they're looking to keep her directly involved in the franchise they clearly see it being a net positive.
Secrets of Dumbledor’s performance got the rest of the Fantastic Beasts series canceled, and they had planned two more movies with that franchise. They were rumored to be making an adaption of Cursed Child, but it looks like they decided to go right back to the source- a known money maker- and just remake that.
Obviously I can’t tell you why they make the decisions they make, but canceling a series of films in the middle of it isn’t done if it’s a financial success. That’s all I can say about it, honestly. And it is true as you say. They think they can get more money out of it with her involved, which since she owns the IP, her direct involvement probably a part of any contract with HP involved.
don't really care about Rowling's involvement but seems like a terrible idea on its own merits. them books cannot be stretched out to a full season of television without egregious filler and the movies were about as good as you could hope adaptations to get
I'd rather they do something new with the HP universe and work their HBO magic to actually make it good.
