    Enmity in besieged

Whats the deal with hate in besieged? I'll run up to a mob that is at 50% and hit it once and all the sudden its fucking attacking me till I'm dead. It happens on like every mob I touch.

Mob in besieged who are attacked by npcs do not gain any hate from the mobs. They could be down to 50% from npc or dead players then carry on in thier rampage. First person to hit them gets put to the top of the hate list until a pc does something to put them over you on the hate list. That is why you are getting chased and killed even though they seem to be in deep hate on something else.

    Re: Enmity in besieged

Besieged mobs will reset all hate from time to time and hunt down any remaining generals/the AC. For a few seconds, they will ignore all player and NPC interaction and seem to wander away. This programming keeps the mobs moving towards targets of interest so that one person can't Diaga the entire beastmen army and kite them around the city forever. This behavior should not be confused with squad mobs (Freebooters, Foragers, Forayers, Bull Bugards, Slaughterous Scorpions, etc) who beeline for generals and mostly ignore players/NPCs.

When this "hunting period" ends, the mob will aggro the nearest NPC or player, as well as respond to any action. When the mob aggros an NPC, you will take hate quickly from that mob because of this:

Other times you may coincidentally WS a mob right after its hunting phase and become the new tank. Never forget that many people go to Besieged to skill up or level their low jobs, so the number of people around a target ensures you nothing in terms of safety. Even though the WAR next to you is wearing full Ares, you will find that he is also dual-wielding daggers at skill 87.
