Axe or Great Axe

I've been leveling each weapon to cap every level and now its become a bit harder to do so as XP keeps getting faster before I get cap level on skills so I was wondering should I keep attempting this or just stick with one weapon? If just stick with one weapon great axe or axe?

Stick with just Great Axe. It has good weaponskills, and usually in XP you're overhunting so the additional attack/accuracy will be better. Also at 75, recapping Axe will be pretty easy.

He could also /SAM with GA and get Hasso for 10 haste and 10 acc

keep skilling them in exp cause it sucks ass to skill a weapon up after you are 75.

Rampage isn't that amazing when you get it at 55 really, maybe unless you have axe merits already. I remember some ls mates leveling war recently said they were doing better numbers with sturmwind than rampage, but idk how well they were geared or what axes were using.

But you get raging rush at 60 anyway, so.. fuck axe until 75 is my advice. And even than you probably won't be using it much, unless you have a ridill or wanna go axe/joy on low eva stuff weak to piercing, but I prefer GA even in those situations.

dont neglect sword either (hear me out lol) this one dude was spamming vorpal blade in aydeewa and it was doing better than rampage, who knew

my war is 2 levels short of vorpal blade but ive capped it in expectation of testing it for myself, dunno if the dude had swd merits tho

to answer ur question tho, ya if u rly wanna stick with 1 wep, do gaxe, altho ur gonna hate life from 55-60 or so with no rampage (i wasnt impressed with raging rush at 60 when i dinged)

With the changes to Raging Rush and 2h weapons in general, I think that Gaxe would be the weapon of choice for WAR in regards to leveling with the exception of the 55-60 range. Raging Rush tends to be more powerful than Rampage now, and at those levels as others said the additional attack/acc would help you as pickup parties tend to overhunt. Try your best to keep axe and sword both skilled, as especially after 70 when you can start considering multihit swords they definitely have their uses.

Meh when I was leveling war, my rampages were generally about the same as raging rushes, on average. Raging rushes spiked a little higher, but my rampages were more consistant. Guess it depends on the person. I was already into the 60's before they made the 2h patch, so my gaxe was gimped. Guess that's no ones fault but mine, lol. Wish I could have compared my rampages against my raging rushes.

Given the right gear for each setup, they probably parse near the same at the end. Fuck WAR/SAM though, unless you know how to play sam, because there's a lot of jackasses who don't and are a huge hassle to their healer.

Someone's gonna flame me for this, but I'd skill up Polearm over Axe. From using it on SAM, Penta is clearly one of the best WS at level 51 (it's a 2-handed, 5-hit WS, duh)... and unless people don't xp on Colibri/other birds on your server (lol) it's pretty useful for quite a few levels afterward. If not forever. It really does make flying things explode.

From using it on SAM, Penta is clearly one of the best WS at level 51 (it's a 2-handed, 5-hit WS, duh)... and unless people don't xp on Colibri/other birds on your server (lol) it's pretty useful for quite a few levels afterward. If not forever. It really does make flying things explode.

As effective as it may be, it still kills my soul to see the "I'm training to be a Dragoon" mentality pay off against Colibri.

Raging Rush makes flying things explode too >.>, along with everything else basically.

if money is an issue for you then just try to level your axe in non exp. its a lot faster to lvl a single handed weapon then a 2 hander.
and if u can get the help of a whm, rdm,Dnc, or brd friend go and duo easy to hit mobs that will net u skill and have him haste you.

also as a side note leveling weapons can be very fun at 75. get a hodge podge alliance together and go fight a wivre for like ever its very funny.

oh and axe is also useful on two other jobs rng and bst so always good to lvl it if u can.

Heck level every weapon u have skill to like 150 skill never know when X jobs becomes the next best sub and you have to run and level it having capped skill when leveling a sub is very awesome. also 150 skill is very easy. lol daggers was a breeze

But anyways perhaps i say that because as Bst its very easy to lvl weapons while exping, to bad Bst dont get near as many weapons available to them as War does.

Just because /nin has dual-wield traits doesn't mean you have to make use of them. At 75, I do far better with g.axe on /nin than maneater/joyeuse(0 great axe merits, 0 axe, 8 sword), I can't imagine it's much different at lower levels, should be the other way around if anything due to lower acc on 1h.

Honestly I NEVER use axe anymore, but I do use polearm from time to time; in the mire, appolyon SE, jailer of temp, sometimes on colibri. Polearm should have roughly the same or a couple less atk/acc than axe at most levels, and pentas definitely better than rampage on weak to piercing mobs. So I see skilling up polearm as more important than axe now, idk maybe just me.
