I want to hear all of your year end reviews. I really don't give a flying fuck for the biased, typical winners of the other websites. I would rather hear what my friends here thought about this past year and what kept them captivated. Whether it be video games, tv shows, albums, whatever you want. Well you obviously don't have to type up a summary of why they won for you but I think it would be really cool.
Here is my year end review on things you probably don't even care about!
FPS of the Year: Bioshock
While it was really fucking hard to choose this one because of blockbuster hits like Crysis, Portal, and Call of Duty 4, this one just took the entire fucking cake. (lolpun) Rapture was just something... amazing, new, frightening. Never has a FPS game left me as scared and eager as this one. Hearing the voices of the mentally insane, drug addicted splicers possibly plotting your death, the ghost images of what happened to some unfortunate people, the sound of the Big Daddy's grieving because they can't find a little sister. Everything unfolds so perfect and well timed, though the twist reminded me a lot of System Shock 2, (as did a lot of things) this one just felt a lot more.... mortifying. Kicking peoples asses with Plasmids like Freezing, Fire, Electricity, Bees, controlling a Big Daddy for yourself, rocket launchers, proximity mines. This game had it all, I can't believe people had the nerve to complain about no multiplayer. This game DOESN'T fucking need it, it's a single player FPS for once in a decade that is pulled off so incredibly well that you forget about that shit. Anyway as you can see it was definitely made of win, I really suggest you play this if you own an 360 or a high end PC.

RPG of the Year: Persona 3
It was really hard to choose between Persona 3 and Tales of the Abyss. (Yes I know that's sad) I know TotA came out in 06' but I played it this past year. Persona 3 is the latest entry in the MegaTen series which I am a huge fan of. Though it was nothing like Persona 2 and had disappointed me because of it I had started the game out very slow and sluggish. I don't know when but a little later I let it grow on me as months progressed of building social links, stats, and well storyline. Eventually the constant, and consistent grinding really didn't bug me because I knew it would always lead to something epic by the next Full Moon. Recreating the awesome demons from SMT III and DDS was really cool, albeit some new ones. Lucifer completely assfuck/broke the game but through all the shit Atlus put you through to get to that point well it was well earned, that's for sure.
8/10
Online Multiplayer Game of the Year: Team Fortress 2
What can I say? I know the CoD 4 fans will probably burn me at the steak but I have been waiting for TF2 for a while. Ever since the trailer hit I have been pretty damn excited. Who knew a game that looked like something from Pixar would be made of so much win? The different classes, weapons, balances, looks, taunts, voices were just all too damn good to be true. For anyone who grabbed a console version I am so sorry. Limited to 6 maps and 16 players? Ouch. While on the PC version you get custom made maps, up to 32 players, in game radio, and well steam talk and chat which is just awesome to do while playing. I don't think I have ever been addicted to an online FPS as much as this one. At first the Demo Man was my favorite. The random ownage of idiots running into your sticky bombs was hilarious and never got old, or just pipe bombing an unlucky person in front of you into pieces was also great. The Soldier eventually grabbed my attention one day when two were just spamming rockets at us in this door way. I just went back to the base, changed classes to one and critical rocketed both of them to hell. It felt really damn good and I wanted to keep doing it. This is what's amazing about TF2, you aren't stuck with one class, you are free to switch any time you want. The diversity of the classes is just incredible, this game easily wins, graphically it can look damn good. Straight out of Pixar like I said. If you turn up the settings to max, turn on the motion blur, field of depth, ect, but what am I saying this game will blow you away if it looked like the original Half-Life.
9/10
TV Series of the Year: LOST
Well I know a lot of you aren't surprised, but can you blame me? I singlehandedly addicted 5 of my friends to this non-stop awesome show that just seems to leave me more astonished at the end of each amazing season. The plot twist at the end is what really got me, it left me asking myself "did I really just see all of that?" To think ABC has made me wait almost an entire year for the new season premiere which will probably be cut short to that stupid ass Writers Guild strike. Either way I have waited this long and I guess waiting longer at this point won't hurt. While it sucks not to be able to spoil anything, you should really do yourself a favor and watch this.
10/10 always.
