    Year End Reviews

I want to hear all of your year end reviews. I really don't give a flying fuck for the biased, typical winners of the other websites. I would rather hear what my friends here thought about this past year and what kept them captivated. Whether it be video games, tv shows, albums, whatever you want. Well you obviously don't have to type up a summary of why they won for you but I think it would be really cool.

Here is my year end review on things you probably don't even care about!

    FPS of the Year: Bioshock

While it was really fucking hard to choose this one because of blockbuster hits like Crysis, Portal, and Call of Duty 4, this one just took the entire fucking cake. (lolpun) Rapture was just something... amazing, new, frightening. Never has a FPS game left me as scared and eager as this one. Hearing the voices of the mentally insane, drug addicted splicers possibly plotting your death, the ghost images of what happened to some unfortunate people, the sound of the Big Daddy's grieving because they can't find a little sister. Everything unfolds so perfect and well timed, though the twist reminded me a lot of System Shock 2, (as did a lot of things) this one just felt a lot more.... mortifying. Kicking peoples asses with Plasmids like Freezing, Fire, Electricity, Bees, controlling a Big Daddy for yourself, rocket launchers, proximity mines. This game had it all, I can't believe people had the nerve to complain about no multiplayer. This game DOESN'T fucking need it, it's a single player FPS for once in a decade that is pulled off so incredibly well that you forget about that shit. Anyway as you can see it was definitely made of win, I really suggest you play this if you own an 360 or a high end PC.

    10/10

RPG of the Year: Persona 3

It was really hard to choose between Persona 3 and Tales of the Abyss. (Yes I know that's sad) I know TotA came out in 06' but I played it this past year. Persona 3 is the latest entry in the MegaTen series which I am a huge fan of. Though it was nothing like Persona 2 and had disappointed me because of it I had started the game out very slow and sluggish. I don't know when but a little later I let it grow on me as months progressed of building social links, stats, and well storyline. Eventually the constant, and consistent grinding really didn't bug me because I knew it would always lead to something epic by the next Full Moon. Recreating the awesome demons from SMT III and DDS was really cool, albeit some new ones. Lucifer completely assfuck/broke the game but through all the shit Atlus put you through to get to that point well it was well earned, that's for sure.

    8/10

Online Multiplayer Game of the Year: Team Fortress 2

What can I say? I know the CoD 4 fans will probably burn me at the steak but I have been waiting for TF2 for a while. Ever since the trailer hit I have been pretty damn excited. Who knew a game that looked like something from Pixar would be made of so much win? The different classes, weapons, balances, looks, taunts, voices were just all too damn good to be true. For anyone who grabbed a console version I am so sorry. Limited to 6 maps and 16 players? Ouch. While on the PC version you get custom made maps, up to 32 players, in game radio, and well steam talk and chat which is just awesome to do while playing. I don't think I have ever been addicted to an online FPS as much as this one. At first the Demo Man was my favorite. The random ownage of idiots running into your sticky bombs was hilarious and never got old, or just pipe bombing an unlucky person in front of you into pieces was also great. The Soldier eventually grabbed my attention one day when two were just spamming rockets at us in this door way. I just went back to the base, changed classes to one and critical rocketed both of them to hell. It felt really damn good and I wanted to keep doing it. This is what's amazing about TF2, you aren't stuck with one class, you are free to switch any time you want. The diversity of the classes is just incredible, this game easily wins, graphically it can look damn good. Straight out of Pixar like I said. If you turn up the settings to max, turn on the motion blur, field of depth, ect, but what am I saying this game will blow you away if it looked like the original Half-Life.

    9/10

TV Series of the Year: LOST

Well I know a lot of you aren't surprised, but can you blame me? I singlehandedly addicted 5 of my friends to this non-stop awesome show that just seems to leave me more astonished at the end of each amazing season. The plot twist at the end is what really got me, it left me asking myself "did I really just see all of that?" To think ABC has made me wait almost an entire year for the new season premiere which will probably be cut short to that stupid ass Writers Guild strike. Either way I have waited this long and I guess waiting longer at this point won't hurt. While it sucks not to be able to spoil anything, you should really do yourself a favor and watch this.

    10/10 always.

For TF2, you're limited to 24 players without mods and most of the player-made maps I played suck. The real reason FPS are better on PC than on consoles is keyboard+mouse.

Yeah I forgot to add that also, but people have different opinions and preferences. Some are just naturally better on a controller than a keyboard and mouse. Yes you really do have the sort the cream of the vast crops. You should really try the Q Clan server, amazing custom made maps, interchangeable radio genres, really damn good players.

The first season of Lost was absolutely amazing, they did everything you could possibly do to near perfection. Probably one of the best debut seasons ever. Then the second season came along, and it went absolutely nowhere. I would watch each episode every week disappointed because literally nothing happened to move it along. This went on for almost the the entire season, and then ended on an extremely anti-climactic note. By this time I had pretty much lost interest in the series and only watched because my wife made me.

Season 3 was a little better, but again it moved way too slowly and I stopped watching about halfway through it. My wife watched till the end and even she said it was a pretty crappy season and may not even bother with the 4th. They need to do something really amazing if they wanna save it, or they could stop moving the plot along slower than a DBZ fight and actually get somewhere.

Sorry but, TV series of the year for me goes to Dexter (Season2). Absolutely amazing TV. I don't remember exactly what movies came out this year, but the most recent one is I Am Legend.

I have to disagree with you saying the plot is going nowhere.

I'm a new lost fan, I'm currently semi marathoning season 2 after watching 1, and season2 I am finding much more interesting since the subnormal themes are starting to poke their heads without being too overpowering. The plot is moving, although slowly, but it has to move slowly when you have to write for 25 episodes.

I must admit though, some episodes are pure filler, and I hate any episode that focuses on that doushe junkie charlie.

I agree with you in overall. The plot get so much better in season 2 and 3 when symbolism and subliminal stuff start popping all over the place. Sure, there was some in first season too, but never as much as there is now. I absolutely loved the whole "blind faith" theme and the button in season 2.

People who prefered season 1 are generally fan of horror/suspense story. People who prefered the rest are fan of mysterious story and symbolism. That's how I see it.

Filler sucks, and there is 4-5 bad episodes in the middle of season 3, but they promised there wouldnt be any in the last 3 seasons.

I agree, House is the best show on tv.

Your wife is the first person I've heard of who didn't like the second half of season three. I understand why people would feel like the first half of season three is slow, but the second half gets stronger and stronger, in my opinion, culminating in the season finale with the biggest "Holy shit" moment I've ever seen in a TV show. Personally, and this seems in agreeance with most of the message boards I've read, anticipation for the new season has never been stronger. To each his or her own, though, I would suppose.

I dont understand how people can hate first 6 episode of season 3, with the cages and all. Middle of the season was slow, but a lot happen in the first part.
