Random unknown process driving me nuts.

OK, so.. I have a slight problem, and I'm not entirely sure where to start fixing it XD

I have a macbook pro, which I got bootcamp running on, and am now using Windows XP on a partition of the HD so I can play FF on it every now and then.
I noticed last night when I was getting ready for Salvage that all the sudden, EVERYTHING seemed like it was lagging really bad. So I reboot, and I can't get Firefox to open, or POL. I check the system processes that, despite the fact that I don't have a window open, Firefox has a process running at 25+%, and there's a random process simply named "System" thats running at 50+ %. I've run Norton, and it didn't find anything. I can't download AVG or anything because freaking firefox won't open and IE freezes up every time I try to navigate away from the home page?

What went wrong? And is reinstalling windows and everything on that partition the only way I'm going to solve the issue?

Download HijackThis, install it, and select the first option; then copy/paste the entire contents of the resulting text file back to here.

Edit: First, try simply booting the thing into safemode and see if it still bogs down and/or has the high CPU usage on the random System process.
