Searched for it. Didn't find anything. Anyone knows how much MDB+ Shadow Ring gives on Darksday?
I would like to test it for myself, since I own one, but I have no idea how. Which would be a good way to test that?

Been wondering about this myself for a while.
Ballista? Just have RDM spam T2 nukes on you to establish a base, while you're naked, then equip ring on darksday and win?
Don't know if it's 100% accurate but it's better than nothing.
Eseal 1k needles on a normal day then dark in ballista?
Don't go to ballista. My favorite place is Kuftal, go the fishing hole, find a worm that won't link, there's usually at least one link-free one in one of the 3 halls down or in the middle. Get hit by a spell, put on ring, get hit by the same spell, post here what job you were on. Make sure it was the same worm. Don't wear any other gear, don't use shell unless you need to do it not to die, in which case post here which tier you used, post your INT too even though we won't need it, I'll just use it to double-check that the result is something it should look like.
The formulas for damage in ballista don't correspond to the regular formulas, so testing there is just wasting your time unless you only care about how the MDB works in ballista. This method takes about 15 minutes.
That's a good idea. Gonna try that during the next days.
1k needles ignores MDB.Originally Posted by Not Kuno

Me and Izzy kinda had an idea the one day. Using these numbers: http://www.ffxionline.com/forums/white- ... raits.html I think it was somewhere around +18 MDB.
Ballista messes up alot of calculations, its not a good testing ground.Originally Posted by BRP

Shell is -%TMDA, Magic Defense Bonus is calculated separately.
Gear, stats, so forth (yeah I just threw random shit on me for most of the slots, left r.ring barren for the no ring test):

I don't feel like looking into the magic formula so hopefully someone can. Also did it twice and got the exact same numbers so I know they're good
Edit: he said naked up above and I missed it, redid it and still the exact same numbers, which I figured I wasn't wearing anything that would modify it
Edit2: I went and looked at the formulas >.> Seems like 10 MDB unless I'm not understanding things correctly
I'm going to test this.Originally Posted by Seditedi
Yeah the naked thing doesn't matter so much in this instance, because the main idea was to make sure you had INT less than 82 and no MDB gear other than ring. Some people throw on all their best stuff for things like this sometimes without realizing it makes it harder for a 3rd party to see what exactly was going on.
In any case it is MDB+10, as you said. The math for anyone who cares:
floor(floor(1.5*(83-52)+434)*1.28) = 614
floor(floor(1.5*(83-52)+434)*(1.28/1.1)) = 558
And BRP, Ballista damage formulas seem to be completely different, you get shit like 3/4 resists and stuff and the unresisted damage varies from the standard as well. The only thing I've ever tested in ballista that correlated to the player vs. mob mechanics are DoT effects. It would be interesting to work out what the formulas are PvP, but I don't really do Ballista enough to care myself lol
I was kinda hoping for MDB+20, since Shadow Mantle has 20VIT, but MDB+10 is quite nice. Thanks.
