Antenna question

So I just got a wireless card, but its old, but still works fine, just that I lost the antenna. The modem is litterally in the next room, but i was wondering, is there any other way to boost the signal? Foil? anything anyone else ever use? please share.

Could just buy another antenna at Radioshack for 15 bucks or so, it's a longer version which supposedly helps, but if the router is in the room right next to you, I dunno

I broke my antenna off multiple times, when it broke off I don't think I was even able to connect.

i checked the radio shack, they don't have them separate or i'd buy it

so turns out that i taped a paper clip to the plug in antenna place, and i got very good connection, who to thunk it?

its not good for the card to run without proper antenna
