Nothing on my x32 system. It's possible they released it early for 64 bit systems. Of course, it's been available to devs and can be downloaded from a large number of places already.. so "released" is subjective I guess.
There's already been trouble with the update, Microsoft recently stopped deploying a patch that is a prerequisite for installing SP1. Some users complained of system crashes after installing it, others complained they had to reformat their hard drives (though I question this, because the person in question said he downloaded Vista off the internet and had no reinstallation disk. Pirate complaining SP1 broke his system, probably) after installing the patch.
Anyway, as far as I know it's still scheduled to be released the 1st or 2nd week of March. It won't do much anyway... mostly a small increase in performance for certain programs (Adobe CS3 was mentioned) and faster disk/network copy speeds. But hey, any improvement is nice.
You can already torrent 32-bit SP1. It works fine for me for 3 different machines. You can definitely tell an improvement for network transfers.Originally Posted by Cephius
Yeah, when I said "available for download" I meant torrents too. Glad to know it's effects are noticeable, though.Originally Posted by octopus
I'm retarded about OS stuff. Does the upgrade to SP1 just patch Vista, or does it require a full reinstallation?
No need to reinstall, but Microsuck retired SP1 today or yesterday because they suck.
P.S. Posting from Internet Explorer in my legit Windows Vista Ultimate. 8)
I think you already answered your own question :DOriginally Posted by Viq
He really didn't.
So SP1 is already done for or they just aren't offering it?
yea, for a while now. I've had it for about 2 weeks or so.
not showing up on my 64bit vista box at work.
I had this problem with my system. After I installed it, I would get an error saying one of my files was corrupt or missing. I had to run the repair program to get my pc to boot back into windows. The exact thing happend again when I tried to install the update a second time. There's already been trouble with the update, Microsoft recently stopped deploying a patch that is a prerequisite for installing SP1.
