    Big-O: Wut?

Weird conversation that started off about various mechs and giant robots in Gurren Lagann somehow left turned into: "I have no idea what the hell happened at the end of Big-O." Hot topic of giant robot discussion is hot!

As far as i've been able to tell: It has something to do with the city the story takes place in as some kind of giant movie or TV stage, and that at least Angel has some hand in it as a screenwriter.

Right about there is where everything either falls apart, or is conflicted by some other aspect of the story that doesn't seem to fit in the "It's a movie!" theory.

Anyone know what the hell was really going on in Big-O? It's been years...

Nobody really knows, apparently. The series never really got finished or explained.

The owner of the Book Metropolis, controlled reality. Angel turns out to be a Rosewater, or maybe the original Rosewater Matriarch. Roger's role is a little more complicated, it seems he is responsible for making sure that the world doesn't become too corrupt form both the wielder of the book and the inhabitants of the city. Thats about what I got out of it, it was left half finished and I would have to watch the series again.

Have you ever seen Wolf's Rain? If so, it's sort of like that. For those who haven't (Don't read the tiny text)

It sort of just starts all over again. It may be a movie-ish type thing where Roger has a larger role in it (remember the episode where he's seemingly "not himself", but the world as Roger and such knew it just kind of "starts over again" without the problems like Rosewater.

At least that's what I think.

Edit: And yeah, I agree with Heian about the book concept too. It's really just open to interpretation.

That makes a good deal more sense that what i've previously been making assumptions on, thank you!

It doesn't answer all my questions, but it opens up a new angle I hadn't considered...

Was under the impression that Roger was a clone and the tomato reference was just how he and others like him had been grown to pilot the Bigs in the past before the amnesia supposedly set in. The farmer do being his "father" or creator. Meanwhile, I kind of figured it all panned into being a dream/fantasy of Angel's to make up for her crappy/abusive childhood (hence the back scars and the allusion of torn angel wings), which could've somehow accompanied the aforementioned war.

Either way, I wasn't really a big fan of the show. Just watched it because nothing else was on.

There are really so many ways the story line could go. The whole Roger/Tomato Clone deal is one. Its been rumored that the tomatoes are kids who had memories implanted into them, hence the bar codes for easy and systematic processing. Roger and Beck were supposed to be two of these children. In season two it seems more of a metaphor to Gordon Rosewater "re tilling" history and "growing" a new harvest.

We can never be quite certain because they purposely left it vague, I personally hope they do because I love how they did the Anime cross with Film Noir.

hmm, i havent seen it in a long time, but i thought it ended in everyone being a computer simulation kind of like in "the thirteenth floor".
arent they all looking at a computer monitor at the end looking at the avatars of themselves?

edit: love that flash gordon opening theme

Sounds like the third episode, when Roger had to go to Electric City and fought the giant electric sea monster.

It sure is. He made eggs for the old guy then he went down in the basement and found this broken lab. Angel is a tard and tries driving away.
