I didn't see a thread about this in search. Anyone watch the show? The finale was just on, but it seemed to leave it open for more, so I'm hoping it will be back.

It's a pretty cool show that mixes martial arts and elemental attacks. Its really cool for a kids' show.

Yeah. I mentioned it in the Anime thread, even though technically it isn't anime. D: I loved the finale and how it ended. Them leaving the Ursa plot open could possibly mean a short special will happen. At least I hope that's the case.

The 2 creator guys no longer work with Nick so dunno...one of the reasons the season took so long to finish.

There are going to be three live action movies for Avatar. Whether they reproduce the series or add on to them I have no clue. However, they're being directed by M. Night so who knows how they'll turn out.

Yeah. After the end of it all, it'll turn out to be one big dream by a writer, added by "WHAT A TWIST!!" >.>

I'm sure the three movies will be of all three books.

One interview I read from M. Night about the movies is that the bending is of course going to be very CGI heavy and that he admits he has had very little experience with. I think the first movie comes out in 2010 but I'm not positive on it. I'd watch them if they would continue on with the story (though I don't know how much more of the Aang story they can expand) but if it's just going to be all the books all over again I'll stay home and watch my downloaded episodes.

I always hoped and wished for the fourth book: Air. Its possible it could be there, I hope Nickelodeon does some cash cow milking. Avatar is seriously the best current animated series in North America.

    Agreed, but I don't see what they could do about a Book 4.. unless it was about Aang and Katara getting married and repopulating the Air temples. >.>;

The finale was so amazing it's not even funny. A good majority of it I was just sitting on the edge of my seat with my jaw dropped.

I don't think I'd go see a live action movie. The reason I watch animated shows is because they do things that would look retarded with CGI or whatever special effects to make it happen.

I don't know how they would continue too much because isn't Katara the last water bender and Aang the last air bender?

Aang is the last airbender. Katara is just the only waterbender of the south pole. The are hundreds of other water benders in the North, as well as in the swamp lands in the Earth Kingdom. A waterbender could be born at anytime in the south pole.

Unless Aang is sterile, he can make little baby air benders. And yeah, the show is pretty cool.

It was absolutely incredible, there was just so much bad ass stuff going on. The fight between Azula and Katara was amazing, especially the end. I kind of figured that what Aang did was how it was going to end since he was so disagreeable on killing anyone.

I wish there had been an Avatar thread earlier. =( I've been following the series since it first came out and people were like "ewwww american anime".

Nothing stopping us from discussing it now~

I first started watching it towards the end of the 1st season. I was kinda like everyone else when I first saw avatar and thought it was just going to be another cheap US anime but I grew to like it. Season 2 completely hooked me into it enough for me to go back and DL the 1st season.

Season 3 was kind of up and down for me. The pacing and way the episodes lead into each other felt kind of off compared to season 2 where almost every episode lead into the other.

Finale was pretty great. I enjoyed both of the fights, though Zuko vs Azula a bit more due to the awesome contrasting colors of the fire.

I was interested in the show when it premiered, but I could never catch it when it was on. Only a month or so ago I finally decided to torrent the whole thing. Loved it. Better story than some live-action shows I've watched.

There are possibilities for more story. Aang has to do something about their being no Airbenders left. One of the styles being dead doesn't really jive with the whole "maintaining balance" thing. So they could do a season of him in search of hidden survivors(they were nomads who saw the war coming, not hard to believe). In a more wild stretch, he might try to use the new powers he gained from that big turtle to bestow airbending on likely people(Ty Lee, for one). While that's going on, Zuko searches for his mom, Toph tries to reconcile with her parents, Sokka helps the earth kingdom rebuild, and we get some kind of closure with Azula.

Yeah. I started watching it on the night it first aired. I remember that night well, even though I can barely remember what I ate yesterday. D: I grew more attached to this show than any Japanese Anime I've seen, or almost any show in general.

I liked Season 2 as well. It was dark, intriguing, and connected a lot of stuff, while Season 3 didn't really after the invasion. Before the invasion, we had them enter the Fire Nation and such, and that was intertaining though, but the order of events didn't really link all that well. After in Invasion, it was time to work Zuko into the group, so everyone (except Toph) got their little life-changing field trip with Zuko. Out of all of them, I liked "The Boiling Rock" probably the most, followed by "The Southern Raiders" and "The Firebending Masters". I just found TSR was sort of rushed there at the end to get everything in. D: "Ember Island Players" was just a lovely way to sort of summaraize the entire series (and make fun of shippers xD). I loved when they went over the Great Divide (the creators stated how much they hated that part) and Not!Sokka was like "Eh! I've seen better."

The finale though was beautiful. People may have problems with plot-no-jutsus (the Lion Turtle's power he seemingly gave to Aang), but I'd like to look at the fact that it may have been foreshadowed. In Season 2's episode, "The Library" Aang sees a picture of a Lion-Turtle in front of someone. Could that have been another Avatar getting "Wisdom" or something? Who knows. People on other forums were like "Zomg it came out of no where!11" and it bothers me that people want to pick at something as artistic as this, but eh. Can't please everyone. It was an artistic masterpiece with great, powerful music, and some of the better fight scenes I've seen in a lot of shows.

Then the shipping wars. Oh lord did this show have a lot. Mike and Bryan were really into baiting that. Every trailer they released had some sort of shipping war in it. I remember the second half of Season 3's trailer had the scene from "The Southern Raiders" where Katara hugs Zuko, and then the scene in "Ember Island Players" where Aang kisses Katara and she pulls away. It's too funny how people can read too much into trailers of all things. I'm satisfied with how things worked out with almost everyone. Ty Lee joins the Kyoshi Warriors, where I think she fits. We're not too sure of what is going on with Toph, though she seemed happy. Mai gets Zuko back (who she threatened, and that was awesome.) Sokka gets to be scared shitless of Ty Lee in make-up now, Zuko becomes Fire Lord, Aang gets Katara at the end, and everyone lives happily ever after.

Or do they? They did leave that one plot open about Zuko's mother. I've heard from people (no one really reliable) that they may come out with specials. I can't see why Nick WOULDN'T want to milk this as much as they can, considering this is the only show besides Spongebob that gets really good ratings. I don't even think M&B work with Nick anymore either, which is why it took the episodes so long to come out... but I'd certainly like to see closure on that aspect. I'm sure Azula just got put in a nuthouse, and we all know we can't go too deep into matters like that on Nick. D:

Anyway, if you don't want to read the wall o text, feel free to skip to the bottom where it says: I really enjoyed this series, and I wish there were more like this that can pull me in. I'll miss it.

In a sense, I wouldn't really want them to dig too deep into the Ursa/Azula stories. Really what more can they add to it? Either Ursa's dead or she's been in hiding, and all they could add is really a tearful reunion. Not a real exciting season if they made a new one.

What would interest me is how Aang and Zuko plan to rebuild the kingdoms as well as gaining trust back into the Fire Nation. Possibly as Zuko tours the world to spread the word on the reformed Fire Nation, assassins start to come after him as they still distrust the Fire lord. Another thing is if Aang will be the last fully realized Avatar. With the airbenders gone, how would future avatars learn airbending? Unless a dead avatar would instruct the current avatar through a spirit world chat or something? Idk.

As far as the Azula/Ursa thing goes... that's what I think. All that is left would be a tearful reunion (somewhat like his reunion with Iroh) as I think she was probably banished. I do think she killed Ozai's father.

As far as the future of Zuko and Aang and how they would rebuild the kingdoms, I'd love to see that. That'd make for a nice chapter. Maybe a mini-series of a Chapter to show their future and how things end up. Gotta remember that the Avatar is a cycle. They were on Air, then it goes back around to Fire, Earth, and Water, so I think there would be time to possibly... repopulate some of the Air Nomads? xD If you know what I mean. Eh, I doubt Nickalodeon would be that smart to pick up on something like that, sadly. All they care about now is Spongebob, which sucks. =[

Actually, despite taking 7 or so months between the failed invasion and the conclusion this week, Avatar remained really popular with the fan base. Enough so that the last kid's choice awards, Avatar won despite fans not seeing a new episode in a long ass time.

And like you said, Ursa did kill Azulon. Ozai tells Zuko what happened to her during their confrontation with one another. If you go back to season 2, during Zuko Alone, it confirms Ozai's story on why Ursa killed the Fire Lord. She found out from Azula and stopped Ozai before he could kill Zuko, and killed Azulon to spare Zuko's life.

I'm ashamed I remember so much but I pretty much listen to the episodes every other day at work (have the episodes on my iPod). It's sad knowing there won't be anymore but maybe we'll be surprised one day D:
