Amazing Graphics in a Small File

I was over at a friends house the other night and after watching random shit he eventually brought up this topic of a contest for a game under 1 MB and the winner was a 96k game. He showed it to us and honestly, it's freaking amazing how they manage to do it all, but the catch is it has a load time because the graphics are all created as a result of functions.

Here are some screenshots but they really don't do it any sort of justice, you need to download this (really small obviously) and try it out. I was most impressed by the lighting and the bump mapping on the ground for the wood. So good.

There's lots of stuff similar to this, I remember one video was this guy dancing as he traveled through these scenes and towards the end he was doing this "disco strut", which I found hilarious. I don't remember catching a name for the demo but maybe someone else remembers it?

    edit: Found it.. http://pouet.net/prod.php?which=9450

Anyway, here's another video which I managed to find which I remember being shown at some point in the night, really amazing texture for the bricks and the lighting again is magnificent.

    Really impressive.

There are some youtube videos- relatively low res (as much of youtube is) but you get the idea. The funny thing though is that they render these beautiful visuals and then the sound is all like 8 bit bleeps and bloops. They are hard to put together in your head.

Stuff like this has been going on for decades. You should check out the demoscene if you think this is impressive.

Bump mapping on an 8086 anyone?
