help me pick which college to go to :D

san jose state or university of nevada las vegas
im thinking about an engineering major or something in business.. (biomedical engineer
wouldve been nice but i didnt get in any UC's :/ )

SJSU:
-in silicon valley, ca
-easier to get a job as engineer
-1.5hr drive away from home (good/bad)
-stay in closer contact with old friends
-everything is expensive in california
-lots of asians (good)
-campus not as big as unlv
-good weather

UNLV:
-living in my friend's house, saves a lot of money for housing (really nice house)
-i have friends there, including 2 best friends
-nicer campus
-great nightlife
-really hot (i dont like it)
-lots of fun things to do
-good nightlife: the strip
-far from home (which can be a good/bad thing)
-offers a lot of majors in case i change my mind
-possibility of scholarship
-better environment
-bigger campus
-not in california (ehh kinda bad)
-cheaper gas, no smog checks :D

i also have options to go to san francisco state and cal poly pomona but im not really that interested compared to the other 2

A couple of my friends go to SJSU. I live about 45 mins. from there and I'm considering attending. It's a pretty solid school and I fancy the campus. The main strip where night life occurs is about a 15 minute walk from the SJSU campus, and I'd say it's only "ok."

-Decent amount of bars, pubs, and restaurants
-Fuckton of malls
-Multi-cultural
-Hot bitches (<3 asian)
-Very close to San Francisco and Monterey Bay
-Exceptional weather

SJSU for sure if you plan on doing four years. Close enough to take free food from home but far enough so you won't be bothered.

Most important, hotness rating is 9.5.

Fuck UNLV.

Caveat: If you''re thinking engineering, Cal Poly Pomona hands down. No need to make a poll. If you're really not that interested in Poly, go to SDSU for two years and transfer to UCSD (bomb engineering dept.).

the heat in vegas really isnt as bad as it looks because its so dry. i would take the vegas summer over the my DC summer any day of the week. humidity is the worst part of summer heat imo.

edit: not to mention you have the opportunity to date the best strippers in the country.

Honestly though you should realy pic your college based on what you want to do with your life. Engineering is a huge catagory. You mentioned biomedical engineer and if it really intrests you go for it. And if you couldnt get into a college that has it off the bat you can always transfer down the road. Dont pick a college based on friends or family. This is your life and your time to grow up. Really think about why you are going to college because nothing worse than spending 4-6 years and $60k-$100k for a "GOOD TIME". Student loans are EVIL. Yes they are most of the time needed but they will haunt you for a long time after you graduate. Good luck and have fun.

My brother did Biomedical Engineering for his Pre-med. He totally loved it... Anyways, I'd probably pick SJSU... Vegas is kick-ass, and you can visit it anytime you want when you are living in San Jose I went to University of Arizona, and we went to Vegas frequently when my friends and I turned 21.

Why isn't Cal Poly (San Luis Obispo) on the list if you want to be an engineer?

I am biased against SJSU because I'm from San Jose. The "nightlife" downtown there is heavily indian/persian/etc, not quite the excessive "hot asian babes" you may be hoping for. As for a job, I guess you're right near the heart of the Silicon Valley so you probably won't have to travel further than Sunnyvale/Santa Clara/Mountain View for a decent job (I'll just disregard the fact that the tech industry there is failing hard for local people as so much is being outsourced from India, I hear about it every day from my father). Keep in mind that as San Jose is basically the residential bedroom of the entire Silicon Valley, there's not much to do there besides sleep between shifts of sweating over wafers and testers in the 90% commercial neighboring cities. The weather is pretty choice though.

However, I will lol at people deciding on their college based upon "nightlife," "weather," or "bg polls." Cut it down to those you are accepted to. Then, cut it down to those you can afford. Then, cut it down to those with the best engineering-related programs. If there's a tie, only then cut it down to the one with the best weather/nightlife/chicks.

I got accepted to Cal Poly awhile back but went to a different school. Cal Poly is a great school for eng and architecture. Its not a bad school, just watchout for the ghetto part of pomona.

I know it stands for California School of Polytechnics, but http://www.calpoly.edu in San Luis Obispo (very good school for computer science/engineering and lolagriculture)
