Laptops running FFXI

I normally use a desktop, but it is pretty old and i was looking to upgrade in a Laptop. Does anyone have any recommendations for someone likes to mutlitask while playing FFXI, i.e. listen to rhapsody, while browsing BG forums, and soloing exp on BLM? Ideally i just want to be able to run FFXI on full settings and do all the things mentioned above without throwing down 2 grand.

Don't get vista and a 8000 series Geforce and you're pretty much good.

dual core is nice if you want to multitask. i have one of these: http://www.notebookreview.com/default.asp?newsID=2780 and it runs photoshop, word, excel, xi, and firefox simultaneously with no difficulty.

Wow that sounds right up my alley, pricewise. When you are running these other programs, can you run through a zone with full weather effects and without experiencing a slowdown? I only ask this because after playing this game for 5+ years, I am tired of watching dust and snowstorms jump around. It really bothers me that i have to turn the weather effects off if it there is a blizzard to see a somewhat fluid frame rate.

What he said ^, also makes sure to have proper cooling for your notebook.

if m1330 should be 8400m, since the 8600m only available for 15" or large dell series. OP can try to look on the laptop thread on the tech support too. There ares tons of the thread about it, I will recommend dell vostro, and try to snipe for the offer for vostro series

I bought a Dell XPS M1730 and I can easily 2 boxes with full settings. I also 3 boxes once in Ordelle's Caves and I had minor lag. This laptop is a bomb and I was still able to get Windows XP with it (like 6 months ago), so it was a great +. Even though my graphic card is a Geforce 7950 GTO, FFXI run like a charm. It's a pricy laptop though but I don't regret.
