Turkey, the most dangerous game.
Only if you take Dick Cheney with you.

Are turkeys so difficult to hunt that you have to shoot as soon as you see movement or they will escape?
This is the second story I've seen in the last month about a father shooting his son to death accidentally while turkey hunting. The first time around, I was like "Oh that sucks." Now I'm starting to think they're doing it as a form of retroactive abortion, because it's the only method where it seems like the result won't be life in prison.
Edit:
P.S. Maybe they should, I don't know, change the law about wearing orange to extend to turkey hunting. Seems we've gotten too stupid to safely continue doing otherwise.
This is actually happened almost a month ago now. That being said he's already been surpassed for father of the year.
Ex-Viking charged with felony assault
According to the criminal complaint, Darrion Scott held a plastic bag over his 2-year-old's head at their Eden Prairie townhome.

Former Vikings defensive lineman Darrion Scott was charged Tuesday with assaulting his 2-year-old son last week by holding a plastic dry cleaning bag over the kicking and crying boy's head in his Eden Prairie townhome.
Scott, an NFL free agent who played the past four seasons with the Vikings and led the team in sacks in 2006, is charged with felony assault in the third degree, felony domestic assault by strangulation and misdemeanor endangerment of a child.
According to the criminal complaint filed in Hennepin County District Court: The boy's mother heard the child's muffled cries and found Scott, who is 6-3 and 290 pounds, holding the bag over the boy's head on April 26. She said the boy was on his back on the floor, his legs kicking and that Scott was holding the bag tightly around the boy's neck.
She told police she had evidence of previous injuries while the child was in Scott's care. A doctor who examined the boy said there is a reasonable degree of medical certainty that marks on the boy's arm and ear were intentionally inflicted and were consistent with either burning or being struck.
Scott, 26, told police the two were playing with the bag, and he wanted to see if the boy could get the bag off his head by himself. Scott was arrested last Wednesday and has been in custody at the Hennepin County jail. His first court appearance is scheduled for this afternoon.
A search of his townhome turned up a loaded .50-caliber handgun in an unlocked bedroom nightstand. The weapon would have been easily accessible to a 2-year-old, the complaint said.
Scott's agent, Tim DiPiero, said Tuesday that he stood by the statement he made last week when he called the arrest "a mistake" and said Scott will seek a speedy trial to "prove his innocence."

Back when I used to hunt with my dad, I had to take a hunter's safety education course. It is required by the Game and Fish to prove to them that you aren't a danger to other hunters when out hunting in the woods. In the course we discussed what not to wear while hunting. Deer hunting, at least in Arkansas, is the only type of hunting that requires you to wear the neon orange vest and hat. Throughout the rest of theyear you can wear whataver you want for the most part. However, wearing white and to some extent light brown and/or tan (during Whitetail deer season) and red and blue (during Turkey season) was not an advisable thing to do. Sometimes people get so excited while hunting and see these colors and immediatly associate them with what they are hunting because you normally don't see those colors in the forest unless its an animal and shoot before even really looking at what they are shooting at.
While turkey hunting it is even more dangerous to wear these colors because typically when you turkey hunt, you do turkey calls to lure in other turkeys. However, if another hunter is in the area, they can mistake these calls for turkeys and slowly work their way towards you, and if you are wearing the wrong colors in poor visibility the hunter may mistake you for a turkey, especially if you are crouched down or in a prone position on the ground which is a common position for turkey hunting.
It is a big enough problem that they actually showed us a video about this in the course.
The kid in the story was really dumb to have a turkey decoy above his head.
