A lie detector inset into a pair of glasses which can even recognize emotions such as love and dislike through voice patterns. They are considering mass marketing the product. I'm not too sure how I feel about it yet...but I did get some 1984 vibes while reading it.

I'm trying to figure out, what is this going to revolutionize? This just seems to to be one of those "make existing technology smaller/thinner/lighter/etc" things that is without opening an entirely new use for it. Unless, you could of course enlighten me as to what this is going to drastically change in the indurstry or the average person's lifestyle. As of right now, OLEDs just looks like an "ooh cool, it bends" thing. Perhaps a 360 degree screen for gaming/training purposes, though I don't think curved screens are actually new. I'm just trying to figure out what flexing a display will open up as far as technological advancement and/or personal convenience.

Pretty much what he said. It's a completely revolutionary approach to a display which requires no back-lighting and consumes jack for power. This translates to laptops becoming incredibly light and consuming many times less power, meaning much longer up times with less charging and less waste from worn out rechargeable batteries. Think of the potential for cell phones. Basically any devices that uses LED or LCD, or devices that wouldn't be practical to have a display due to current size/power constraints could easily have an OLED display added to them. The only hurdle at the moment is cost, which will drop as the technology is developed.

The main thing is laptops but, seriously think for a moment and tell me you wouldn't like to be able to roll up your monitor stick it in a little tube and take it on the road, or have cell phones that have essentially unbreakable screens, ipods you can stick in your back pocket and sit on and be fine, etc.

The technology is a long way from being that stable and consistent with the bending, but in the long term I'd say that's the main goal, having a display of equal or better quality to the top end flat panels which can be folded or rolled up or whatever to carry, and small device screens which are basically unbreakable.

The smaller those LED things get the more use they'll get throughout everyday life. Imagine flying a jet with a constantly updated topographical map of the area you're flying in in your helmet, or whatever. I dunno. Use your imaginations. ^_^
