Random D/Cing

Recently I tend to D/C once about every hour, but in a weird way: I see myself red-dot but am most of the time still able to chat with people, and after about 30 seconds my R and S start to drop, along with the percentage. I have no clue what the reason could be since I've authorized every FFXI-related program on my Firewall and as far as I know there are no ports that can be forwarded.

I'm using a 2 Mbps line, ZoneAlarm as a firewall and I have a ZyXel Prestige router, if that matters.

Now to my questions: does anyone else experience these random disconnects or something similar? And mainly: does anyone have a clue what I can do to resolve the issue?

Been happening to me for the past week or so. Is it hot as hell where you're at too? I assume my router/cable modem is overheating/buggy or something.

Or SE is sucking. It did only seem to start about the same time they had that last maintenance to fix some mysterious problem.

Well, it was really hot a few days ago but the last few days it has cooled down...I believe it's on SE's side though, because I don't lose my whole connection, Firefox and Trillian still work fine, only FFXI fails.

I would try using Tcpview and Process Explorer during those moments of lag just to check to make sure some other program isn't causing it. You said once an hour, but it is it like the same time every hour or just once randomly that averages out to like once an hour?

I play on PS2, so that wouldn't be why it has been happening in my case.

Roughly an hour, I've never paid perfect attention to it...and I doubt it's some other program since I have nothing else running while I'm playing except Trillian which doesn't eat all that much bandwidth. Thanks either way though.
