Well I will cut right to the chase.

I'm 19 years old at the moment, and me and my buddies were all talking about vasectomies a few months ago. We all got serious about it, and some of us said we would consider it.

Let's just say I was the one who took it to the next level.

I'm now in a predicament.

After months of searching, I managed to find a doctor who would do a vasectomy for me. At this time, and age, I am obviously not interested in kids. I know the internet is obviously not a good place to ask something like this but:

How are your thoughts on getting a vasectomy this early on in life?

Just because you and your friends talked about it does not mean you should do it. as for "it saves me from using a condom", unless your with a long term relationship its best to use one. A vasectomy for someone as young as you are is the stupidest fucking idea I have ever heard. You understand that even if you get it reversed, there's only like a 50% chance of ever being able to have kids. Honestly, either strap something on or go for the best choice and stay abstinent until you're ready to have kids.

Health insurances often cover the procedure, but generally unless you're around 30 the doctors themselves would decline you.

Best bet is to hold off for a few more years as there are a few better options for male contraceptives going through testing.

Seriously, if you don't want kids, and don't want to have your own progeny, fucking do it. You can also freeze your little squigglys and have them on ice if you change your mind.

with that said, the childfree livejournal community is pretty fucking cool.

This is what I was considering doing, freezing the "squigglies". It seems to be the most sensible decision if I do decide to go with it, which 98% sure that I will.

Do you have any idea how much cryogenically freezing sperm costs? Like really, do you have any idea at all? Unless your daddy is rich, I doubt you can afford it

There's no way in hell as a doctor I would give a 19 year old kid a vasectomy. Has your balls even dropped yet? Maybe you're super mature and know you're the kind of guy that never wants children. For every one of you, there's 10 immature dumb fuck kids who want vasectomy's so they can dick any chickenhead (oh yeah, I went 1999 on your ass) around the block. I don't blame the doctors at all. Maybe you're different, I don't know you, and neither do any of us, so I won't pass judgment. Just realize that it is a risk you may regret later on.

Also, Not every accident is bad. (OK, so she wasn't an accident, but she kinda was! We only tried for her because we miscarried an unexpected baby).
