ritter hidden effect

In the wiki entry Here (http://wiki.ffxiclopedia.org/wiki/Ritter_Gorget) it says ritter gorget + shield has a hidden effect of -2% dmg taken (3% on hq shield) yet i've searched a few forums (Here, KI, allahpld) and can't find any supporting threads. Does anyone know if this is true and where the test was posted? i'd like to know before i spend gil on a shield that might or might not be usefull.


This is mostly out of curiosity, i know the koenig/wivre are pretty much the gold standard for non aegis, but i wanna know if its true, and it seems like it might be usefull for a magic heavy mob.

Easy enough to test if you already have the gorget go fight some Cactuars and see if you take 2-3% less damage for 1000 needles. If you're debating getting the ritter gorget then I can't imagine why, it's the best enmity neck piece and only something like Parade Gorget is better situationally.

Well, yes, its easy to test >.> but i wanted to know if its true BEFORE i spent gil on a shield that may or may not be usefull. I figured if it was on the wiki, someone might have heard of it before, seen where the testing was posted, or something, but its looking more and more like a rumor started by someone who wanted their ritter shield to sell for more.

still interested to know if anyone has info, but "oh well" if not.

If it is true, is it worth the enmity loss? I mean, ritter gorget is pretty hot, but the shield is ok. Those + haut = dring sorta so I guess its ok.

Personally I don't do Einherjar right now so it isn't something I'd be able to play with. Are there any other items with this kind of relation? I don't see SE adding hidden set effects to old items, the shield at least, at random.

yeah, getting the gorget or not wasn't in question, after i picked it up i saw the thing on the wiki and it made me curious... maybe not curious enough to spend gil, but curious none the less :D

as for if it would be usefull if it were true.. that is what i was interested in testing, at least in theory, by seeing if it were true, then perhaps carrying the shield around for a month or so to see if i ever find a situation where it was usefull.

It has its merits, it has hp and mp (altho a small amount) and, with the pld latent, it has 1 def higher than koenig, it seemed like adding 2% dmg reduction on top of that made it at least worth a second look. It could be usefull for mobs which melee, but also cast alot, but i cant think of too many of those except maybe um... kurrea? haha when was the last time anyone fought that.

me too. makes a good poster child for why you can't take all data on wiki as fact though. it's often a reliable resource, but like any wiki, can be poisoned by idiots. good to have solid evidence though.
