anyone else see it ?

it's an animated short story movie with different stories done by a bunch of different artists to bridge the gap between begins and dark knight.

it was pretty good i think... i like how it showed his training by that girl to control his pain receptors, and the various different super criminals (killer croc, scarecrow and dead shot).

I didn't like the very first piece (rehash of an episode from the animated series, plus I couldn't appreciate the art style it had), I thought the rest was pretty nice though, with the Deadshot piece being my favorite.

I'll agree, the first was quite possibly the worst in the lot. And not just slightly worse than others, but more like, "Were these guys high?!" bad.

In terms of style, I probably liked the one with the gyroscopic device best, but the best story was probably with the Working Through Pain one.

I thought the first one was awesome. You have these kids that are caught up in Batman as a legend instead of a real person (in their world) and setting him up as some kind of fable, then he comes in at the end and he's nothing like the stories the other kids were telling.

I thought all the story arcs were great, but the one art style that I could do without was the blatantly animu one. The one when Batman tries the EMP field to deflect bullets. All of the lame closeups and Bruce Wayne batting his eyelashes like a girl were overly effeminate. (Cuz animu is for fags, lawl.)

I really wish he had been the voice of Batman in New Frontier. After so many years of the Batman cartoon, the Batman/Superman cartoon, and 4 seasons of Justice League cartoons, he's the perfect guy to do the voice.

Downloaded and watched it tonight; pretty good stuff. I very much liked the animation style of Have I Got A Story For You and In Darkness Dwells. Crossfire and Field Test were the low points of the compilation to me, mostly due generic animation styles and storyline. Still, this was a good showing of how a sometimes more serious comic character can be mated to a style of animation that is treated more seriously than American kiddie-far, to create a vibrant and engaging product. Props to DC's animation group for getting this off the ground and producing something worthwhile to watch.

Didnt know anything about this DVD coming into it aside it was a compilation of different studios doing the animation for it.

The second I saw "Deadshot" I knew Madhouse did it, so I enjoyed that one.

All the stories were fairly good regardless of their styles, the latter stories seemed beter than the earllier ones though.

It takes a lot of time to like Studio 4C's "Have I Got A Story For You" style, they did some work in the Animatrix as well. It may seem like bad animation, but it's rather quite good.

When seeing Production I.G's short "Crossfire" I also knew they did it, it's funny how after watching a lot of anime you can point these things out. They do Ghost in the Shell

Bee Train's "Field Test" stood out as well for doing .hack.

"In Darkness Dwels" tricked me, now looking at who animated it, I see it was Madhouse, but they let one of their other teams do this short, so thats why it doesnt look like a Madhouse clip.

"Working Through the Pain" was also done Studio 4C, and like Madhouse let another team handle it, they used a more 'modernized' style for this one though.


Over all very good, I went it to see the animation styles, but stuck around for the plot.

persistent rumors that they were field tests for a new adult themed/styled batman animated series, as opposed to the kidded up The Batman on WB, above Batman TAS in level (which was pretty adult in comparison to what WB has now). I would totally watch it every week if they did it.

I thought it was worth the watch. Like people said above I think the 1st story was meh at best, but story and art get better as they go. Like Sonomaa said, I'd be up to watching a Batman series with a more adult attitude to it, not some kiddied up BS they've had in recent years. Preferably with the art style of the last or second to last stories.
