Anyone play ffxi on XPS1730?

Just came back to the game after a long break, and currently i use an xps 1730, running sli 8700mgts.

Put bluntly, it runs like total shit in any area with more than a couple of people in it, regardless of resolution. I know a while back there was a driver released by nvidia to fix an issue with ffxi, will this driver help me? It doesn't have 8700mgt listed on it's supported hardware as far as I can see.

I'm not having issues with any other games, it just seems to be an ffxi issue. Can anyone offer insight on how I can get this working better? It used to run better on my old crappy pc from 5 years ago than it does on my new dual core 2.4ghz with 4gig ram and 8700 video cards.. strange.

There's a certain driver you have to download for laptops, that works. but you have to manually install it, let me see if i can find the link.

Yeah, I'm on vista. Pain in the butt, but more trouble than it would be worth to change now.

I've had a look for the drivers I should be using, but I cannot find a driver that is one of the ffxi specific ones that says it works specifically for my cards

I found a driver that seems to have done the job - running in 1920x1200 I get around 15-20fps where I was getting around 5.
