Social Etiquitte (sp) in FFA ?

I know some people know what I am talking about.

In most FFA with people I know they tend to follow a type of etiquitte (sp) for Wifi {not so much offline I noticed}.

    1) If a player is knocked off the stage by another player and the that player chases off stage to finish him off, the others not involved either fight each other or just watch (depending if its 3-4 way)

    2) Hiding in the back and spamming projectiles = nono

    3) Items turned off (wifi only, I don't mind if its offline; things are chaotic enough as it is with the occasional lag)

    4) Shield Break. The person who broke the shield has the right to do what he wants to his victim while the others let it go.

Theres probably more but the first two are the main ones really...

Just curious to know if anyone does any of these. I try to follow them but there will always be people who don't (the only times I mark anyone in FFA at all, usually to the spammer)

    1) Uh, naw, not really. If someone is going to leave themselves open with edge-guarding, I'll let them kill their opponent off.. then kill them too. Why in hell would I just stand there?

    2) I agree

    3) If you enter a room with items on, you're pretty damn rude to take them off. If you don't like it, make your own room. Vice versa.

    4) Yeah I let that person charge up a fsmash for an unnecessary KO move, but I'm behind them charging up my own fsmash for an unnecessary KO. lol

Thats all I ask for in the end really. Ridiculous when you try to finish someone off and another person comes in and messes it up before you get the chance (ending up no one losing a stock or just yourself)

I think that happens more with beginner-intermediate players than more advanced players because the more advanced players understand the timing involved with trying to do such a thing and even a slight tap by someone else can just fuck everything else up. Probably not even so much social etiquette than it's like (shit I hope he doesn't do it to me so I won't do it to him).

Hiding in the back and spamming projectiles, I've been guilty of it before but it's moreso in free for alls, I have a habit of trying to fight everyone and I usually get punished for it by getting into a higher percent very fast because I'm getting sandwiched. I try not to be a total ass about it and I'll usually stop if I can tell someone's about to make a kill. Either that or I'm purposely trying to provoke someone into coming my way in the hopes that the other player won't follow. What I think sucks more about this though is how someone'll be spamming projectiles at everyone else, but nobody else but me is trying to get them to stop so I end up getting punished because someone took advantage of me trying to stop that annoyance.

I don't mind playing with items at all. Just because most tournaments out there doesn't allow items doesn't mean you should never play with items especially if it's just a bunch of friends fucking around. I understand that the randomness of items may make it a turn off but most of the funniest situations I've ever been in were with items on. Sometimes a person just wants to have fun.

When a shield break goes off, everyone involved usually sees it as a good opportunity to get a free hit so I kinda understand why that shit gets hectic when everyone's trying to charge their smash to get that one person out and one of them is charging their smash to get both of you out. Also every single time I've been shield breaked in a FFA it was because it was a combination of two people hitting me at once. You can't exactly say that the last one to hit me has the right to do whatever he wants with me if the other person was trying to break my shield too. Just don't get greedy if there's someone else closeby.

I don't really have anything to contribute to this topic because everyone plays differently and has different patience thresholds. I'm pretty laid back so not a lot bothers me when I play whereas I've seen many complaints from other players I thought wasn't even that big a deal. I think this is all mostly subjective.

It's FFA there is no etiquette. You'd be fooling yourself if you think there's a safe way to chase someone off the stage with decent players playing against you.

No no. You can come after me. I'll just be ready with the Snake's Bair.

As Ryko said "Sometimes that Bair is just awesome sex."

Also, odds are my recovery is better than yours.

Chasing with Snake and claiming to be able to recover by simply Bairing? lol, yeah you can Bair them back onto the stage while you end up having to blow yourself up to recover because you have no discus left. You're fooling yourself if you honestly think you can deny someone a punish on your for chasing someone off the stage, playing Snake, unless they're honestly half fucking retarded. Honestly.

But you .... don't.... have to use both jumps to chase....?

First jump, back turned, gimp/KO with BAir, Second jump, Bair people stupid enough to come after you?

Hit box is Snake's chin to the tip of his feet? Best sex kick period? According to rules of priority, person with the higher power attacked cancels out. So unless you're like.... Marth or maybe Ike... you're in your best case scenario trade hits with me, in which case I just Cypher back. Your worst case scenario, my hit overwrites yours and you get owned.

And the BAir will either launch you behind me, leaving you vulnerable again to Edgeguard or you'll just go straight up. Either are favorable for KOing.

    If I'm already cypher'd, I'd like to change my answer to just holding the B button. <.<;;

You hit me, we both go boom. 2nd heaviest character in the game vs. Whatever you're playing... I've got good odds of living. You don't. Unless you're playing Bowser, in which case, why am I off the stage to begin with? Oh right. FFA edge guarding.

    1) If a player is knocked off the stage by another player and the that player chases off stage to finish him off, you proceed to give chase with Falcon Punches off the edge

I agree to some extent, most of my friends observe a certain aspect wherein if two people have basically taken each other from 0-150%~ish on just each other you leave them alone, because if you kill either one of them (or god forbid both) there's a good chance you've basically stuck a giant target on yourself where you're just going to get teamraped for the rest of the match

We must apply rules and etiquette so that we can play our FREE FOR ALL matches fairly and with as much balance and skill involved as possible.

I try to steal as many kills as possible and set items on high with bumpers, assist trophies and Pokéballs on.
