    Putting pieces together...

Granted there is still a lot of content to come for Wings of the Goddess, but so far we've been given a lot of pieces of the timeline, as we know it, to put together.

I'm currently working on the BG Wiki getting the Army of The Kingdom of San d'Oria information up to speed. At the moment i'm focusing on the Generals and key NPCs, many of which have already appeared in our present (prior to WotG release). Noillurie is/was from the final Amanomurakumo acquisition cutscene, same with Mieuseloir B Enchelles and Ragnarok. We all became quite familiar with Rongelouts N Distaud during our ToAU Assault rank ups. Mysteriously, Excenmille ended up a lowly Ballista NPC while Rahal S Lebrart became the leader of the Royal Knights.

There are a lot of connections going on in San d'Oria, which i obviously notice because i'm San d'Orian. When i'm finished with San d'Oria i'd like to continue work on the other two nations, but i'm reluctant to actually switch my allegiance in game.

With that in mind, for those of you that are aligned with the Republic of Bastok or the Federation of Windurst, what connections between past and present are people noticing in their respective nations?

Some of the NPCs with elaborate history that i'm already aware of are:

    -Bastok: Stoneserpent General Zazarg
    -Windurst: Zonpa-Zippa
    -Windurst: Karaha-Baruha
    -Windurst: Perih Vashai

I know there are a lot more, and i know other people must have started to put together some of the pieces for their nations. Please share your observations!

The npc pages on wiki you update look good, nice and detailed. I had been slowly working on campaign npcs/mobs but I mainly do Bastok region battles so I'm not familiar with sandy. So that's cool ;p I don't really know many of the Bastok leaders are involved much in present storyline. They mostly seem made up for the purpose of campaign, but maybe I'm wrong. Invincible Sheild is the lame-o ballista NPC in metalworks in present, and he also investigated the Near East for Bastok and forewarned them things were turning dangerous. Adelheid has a thin tie to Scholar Shultz, who's tactical Strategems players apathetically lot on in modern day Dynamis. Can't think of much else atm.

Invincible Shield is the Ballista NPC for Bastok. He also wrote the "Ginuva's Battle Theories" that we find in Dynamis.

Other famous freelancers you can run into in both past and present would be Rainemard, Dalzakk and Azima. Rainemard is the RDM freelancer, in the present day he's known as Curilla's dad and central figure in RDM AF quests. His death is also fairly mysterious as the whole AF quest series revolves around putting his ghost to rest (his body was stuffed into a box in Garlaige Citadel after his death and some sort of dark spirit possessed his soul). Azima is a psychotic giggling BLM in the past, somehow she's become the expert lady at Alchemy guild in Bastok. I don't do Bastok battles much so rarely see Dalzakk in the past (I know he's a monk though), in the present he's a figure in Bastok storyline though appearing in some of the missions. I can't remember if he shows up in MNK AF quests or not though, those are started by his friend Oggbi that sometimes shows up in campaign battles too.

Not freelancers but other famous NPCs would be..

Aijido-Maruijido. He's just a little kid during Crystal war and I haven't had the chance yet to catch up with the Windurst_S quests to see what he gets up to (apart from being dragged back to school all the time) but later on he becomes one of the leading researchers for Orastery. Always sticking his nose in the wrong place he's the central figure in Windurst missions storyline and fights with you at the end same as Volker for Bastok and Trion for Sandy.

Romaa Mihgo. She's the leader of the cobra troops in the past, the one who hands you your promotion. Present day she's living out her retirement in the warm weather of Kazham, has minor parts in some Windurst missions and random quests. And of course she's the mum of Windurst's resident burglar Nanaa Mihgo.

To expand a bit on Azima, she researches alchemy in the past since she believes it to be more fulfilling than the transience that is conventional magic. She used this knowledge to become an expert in the present. She is influenced by meeting people who are also versed in Alchemy. In addtion to Black Magic, she also uses Blue Magic, which is the joining of Alchemy and Magic to absorb the powers of monsters. All of her magic is Thunder based, which is how some of her bounties seem to be burnt.

Excenmille is just like Ginuva in that he is not simply a Ballista NPC. Before he returned to San d'Oria, he had been assaulting the Orcish Empire in the North with guerilla tactics. Unless I've missed my guess, that'll have a lot to do with the upcoming story, his motivations for killing Orcs are already very clear.

Raigegue R d'Oraguille (the Corse NM) is the aggressive former King of San d'Oria who instigated the 2nd battle of Konschtat. He was eventually betrayed by his Brother, Prince Fellenant, who wanted peace rather than domination. Fellenant was imprisoned, later escaped, and declared himself King, starting a civil war that did not end until after Fellenant's successor, Ranperre, brings it to a close more than 100 years later.

I thought it was said that Azima [S] and Azima are not the same person?

Anyway, there's also Kilhwch, who is the wielder of Excalibur in the past; he's the NPC in the cutscene for that, too.

I'm sure it was. What's your point? ;/

The pieces fit well enough that it isn't exactly a jump. The only bit that suggests that they aren't the same person is a Vana'diel Tribune article about how she 'never fought with Adventurers', which isn't really much of a point, since we're all technically soldiers in the war.

There's also the article on Azima [S], too.

She has therefore taken a great interest in the newest addition to the abundant bounties visible on wanted posters around Bastok: the so-called "Dhampir Mithra." -Cut-. At present, Azima is pursuing this vigilante relentlessly.
I just don't see it, brushing aside the personality change for whatever reason it should be ignored.

Don't see what? What am I supposed to be divining from that blub that somehow suggests that Past Azima is not Present Azima?...OH I SEE, you're an idiot. Those articles were written AT THE TIME OF THE WAR. Meaning it was 'at present' at the time. Also, I don't think the few words present Azima can get through her horrible coughs shows us much of her personality. Even if it did, she's obviously very secretive as has been expressed in a Vana'diel Tribune Crafting article in which she says "I'm telling no one how I came to get my money." A trait fitting of an ex-bounty hunter in fear of reprisal.

Something I noticed the other day, and just ignore this if I'm mistaken (Elvaan names confuse me), but isn't Rainemard/Curilla's Father/RDM AF dude, also Louverance's grandfather? I don't remember exactly where this is mentioned, but I guess I could try and find out.

If this is the case, how does that work out? I mean, I know it's hard to tell the characters ages, since they're just pixels and all, but I believe Trion is what, 23 at most? Judging from that, I'd assume Curilla would be at most 26, and unless Rainemard had more children we won't know about (I might have missed some Louverance dialog in CoP missions), it doesn't really add up.

Again, if I'm wrong, please feel free to correct me (in a nice way ^^).

I forgot to mention Gumbah. The little galka "kid" who in the present lives in the house on the alley to Alchemy Guild in Bastok Mines and plays a fairly large part in many Bastokan quests and missions. In the past you see him pre-rebirth popping up in quest cutscenes with his friend Werei who is also mentioned a lot in Bastok storyline (but it's been so long I don't remember if you ever see him in the present). They even kept Gumbah's green face markings.

And Louverance isn't Rainemard's grandson, he's the grandson of the guy who went on the northlands expedition.

EDIT: found the name, Francmage: http://wiki.ffxiclopedia.org/wiki/Francmage

Just thought I'd point out that you were close. According to a Vana'diel Tribune article (and the timeline thingy), Trion is 24 and Curilla is 25. Also worth noting that it tells us Rahal is 31, Claidie is 19, and Halver is 51. This would mean Rahal is around 9-10 in WotG. (According to the timelines the war started 22 years ago.)
